I used one on my daughter's hair when she was about 2, she is now 5. I only blow it dry on very cold nights after a bath. My hand goes between the hair & the heat.
just want to get an idea when i can start doing this, thanks moms

I have used the warm setting for my daughter since she was a year. When its cold and we either have to go run errands or she is going to bed I want her hair dry. I basically just use t to take her hair from wet to barely damp.
My daughter is 6 now and I only use a hair dryer on her when it's picture day or a special picture-taking holiday. Blow dryers are so damaging to hair that I just don't want to ruin what God gave her at such an early age. Just my opinion....
My daughter used a hair dryer on the warm setting when she was around a year old. She had thick, naturally curly hair. Hold the dryer far enough away from her scalp that it's not too hot. Put you hand in between the dryer and her scalp and you can tell.
Later: hair dryers do not damage hair. Excessively hot air damages hair. A hair dryer on low or medium blown from a distance will not damage hair. If warm air from a hair dryer could damage hair, a warm wind would also damage hair. lol I've been in a warm climate where the winds blowing in my face were warmer than the air from my hair dryer and my hair was just fine.
My DD is 3 and we have been using it on her for about a year now. The Kids Hair stylist told me to dry it with a dryer because all of her hair wants to push forward and blow drying it occasionally will train it to grow towards the back instead of the front. We use it every 3-4 days when we wash her hair.
I started using one with my daughter at about age 2 or so. I think you can use it at any time. Just remember to turn the heat and speed on low.

I have been using a hair dryer on my daughter's hair occasionally since she had enough hair to blow dry. She is 7 now and we have only used the dryer a handful of times. I think her hair is much softer when it dries on it's own. Like the previous two posters said, the dryer damages the hair and use the warm setting with your hand between the hot air and her head.
I don't even though she has a ton of hair down to her waist. But then again, I don't use one on myself either - I'm all for air dry.
I think I started when my daughter was about 2, mainly because without blow drying the hair doesn't look as good. It was a challenge at first to get her to sit still, but over the past 4-6 months she has gradually improved.
My girlfriend's daughter will have nothing to do with the blow dryer...so patience!
When the weather turns cooler and I want the hair to be dry. It doesn't matter how old the kids are. I turn the dryer on low fan and a lower heat setting. If it's too cool it's just as uncomfortable. Hold the dryer away from the head and let it gently blow the strands of hair.
I have been blow drying my daughter's hair since she was a baby. Of course, I only do it when it's close to bed time and her hair is wet. I also do it if we're going out and her hair is wet. The rest of the time I let it air dry. Also, her hair is long so that's why I use the blow drier once in a while. Just be mindful of the settings (warm vs hot, low vs high). I don't "style" her hair though. I just make sure it's dry. I have styled it before for pictures and she looks adorable. Don't get it too close to her head and she'll be fine. I hold the drier far from her head.
i never have on either child, but i started using my chi on her to straiten on my oldest when she was 5
My daughter has really curly hair, so I've been using a diffuser/hair dryer on her since she was 1 1/2. Most days she hates it, but I would rather her have dry hair than send her to bed wet
Anytime! There is NO special time. I am a hairdresser and specialize in children and dry ANY childs hair, no matter their age. I have even dried babies hair. Mostly to get rid of loose hair.
I have a hair dryer with three heat settings (cold/warm/hot) and used it on cold/low on my daughter since she was a baby.
I would invest in a dryer with an adjustable heat setting (they are not expensive at all, I think mine was $20).
Good luck.
Hi, M.M.
When the child can dry his/her own hair.
Hair dryers damage the hair.
