Not soon enough! June 5. I'm a teacher and I think I'm more excited about summer than my students! :)
Just curious when school ends around the country. Our last day is the 28th this week, but I know some charter schools got finished on the 21st. This seem really early! I wish we could go back to starting school after labor day and ending the beginning of June.

Ugh, my son's last day is June 17th. Lots of snow days here, and we start at end of August .. I can't wait for summer!!!!
my kids finished their college classes and are over the moon!
the one taking a summer class slightly less so.

Our district's official last day is June 25th, with the last two weeks leading up to that just testing days for middle school and high school.
My daughter who is my youngest, is a senior this year.
Therefore for me, in the words of Alice Cooper: School's Out ForEVER!
(well except, 4 years undergrad, then 3 years or more of med school, but whatever)
:)
**Oops...Meant SW Virginia!**
Here...in SE Virginia, tomorrow is the last day of school (early release) and graduation is is this Saturday (30 may).
Not sure when school resumes as my youngest two GRADUATE!!
Woo Hoo!
One twin is going off to college, and move in is 28 August as I recollect.
The last day for our district is June 5. High school graduations are June 10 I believe. I believe they will start back to school on August 17 because teachers are to report the Thursday the 13th.
My daughter just completed her Sophomore year in college (4.0 YEAH for 3 semesters in a row) and her exams and classes were done May 5. However, she lucked out because that is how her professors planned it. Most students went an extra few days to complete exams. Graduation was May 15. She will not start back until late August.
6.5 school days left. No, we're not counting down or anything.
Our schools (Fairfax County, Virginia, suburbs of Washington, D.C.) end on Friday, June 19, this year. This is not due tot any make-up snow days etc. -- this is the regularly scheduled last day of school.
We have the schedule you would prefer -- our schools begin the day after Labor Day.
But beware of what you ask for because we do not ever get out at the "beginning of June." Due to holidays etc., our kids are in school until nearly mid-June or later. It makes the spring school months seem very, very long and the kids get very antsy.
This fall, Labor Day falls very late, so school begins this fall on Sept. 8 and does not end until June 23, 2016.
Our last day (in Canada) is June 26th and we go back September 8th. Our school year has always been this way. We have never had a three month summer holiday!
We started school in September - before Labor Day - September 2nd and we get out 18 June.
We don't have additional days this year due to weather like we did last year.
Check your school's guidelines about hours of education - NOT JUST DAYS. There is a difference for districts.
My kids finish on the 28th. Other schools in our area go to the end of the first week of June. Some schools finished last week.
Next school year our school won't be starting until August 27th, a week later than we started this year. I am happy to have the extra time, but would REALLY be happy for a post Labor Day start so we could enjoy that final weekend and actually leave town! I am from Minnesota so growing up school always started after Labor Day due to the MN State Fair ending on Labor Day. I won't be able to go back and partake in the Fair until my kids are out of the house.
Our school is out June 11. Parents are in a kerfuffle because school will start the week before Labor Day this coming year. School teachers fought to get more days and now the parents give them grief. :(
We get out May 28th
My daughter goes to public school that is year round and she's out 1/2 day today and tomorrow is her last day and its a 1/2 day also. My son goes to a charter school and he's out 1/2 day Thursday and Friday is 1/2 day too and also his last day.
I believe the reason we get out end of May in AZ is they would rather have the kids hot at home than at school. lol The year round school goes back like 3rd week in July and the charter is a longer summer, first or second week in August.
June 29, thanks to the winter from hell. That's the last day students can go according to the teachers' contract. Luckily for us, that was the actual end date plus our snow days. Other towns had to add in classes on Saturdays and take away some scheduled days off to reach the 180 day requirement before the end of June.
Schools tend to end earlier in Georgia, where I'm living, so my kids' last day of school was this past Friday and all the high school and college graduations have occurred over the past two weeks. The college classes end earlier too--I taught my last class on April 27th or so and turned in grades on May 10. Of course, the schools open early (compared to the northeast, where I grew) too... Aug 1 or so is the typical start date.
We live in Minnesota and get out June 7 (unless you are a senior, then the 5th is your last day). We start school the day after labor day. This is pretty typical for MN public schools to start after labor day and get done the 1st week or so in June. We had a fair amount of snow days, but made up the time with longer class days rather than add time to the end of the year.
We were done on the 21st. It was supposed to be May 20th, but we had one snow day.
ETA: We start in early August. This year it was around August 5th. Teachers didn't like starting that early since they had to go back in July, so it got pushed back to August 10th for next school year.
Used to be we got out in early June, but I think midwestern schools also started earlier or had fewer days off in the middle. Locally we get out anywhere from June 15 to June 25, depending on the school district. DD is out of school as of the 15th. We have a snow day to make up this year. I'm happy, though, because our district didn't go overboard in the middle of the year with lots of extra days off (no need, IMO, for the entire week before Christmas) and half days for some holidays vs full days off. That kept her from going to school til the end of June. All the local schools start the last week of August here, but it's those days in the middle that count. It also matters how long the school day is as well. Schools with longer days can make up the educational hours faster than schools with shorter days. I recall school being longer when I was a kid. Not unheard of to be in elementary school by 7:30 and not out til after 3.
June 11th is last day of classes and it's an early release day.
Since we had a lot of snow days they added 10 min to the end of each day to make up the lost time without cutting into spring break.
School starts after Labor Day in Sept.
Where I grew up school ended at the end of the 3rd week in June.
I'm in Manchester, NH. Our public school seniors finish in June 12 and graduate on June 13th, everyone else's last day is June 18th. Our Catholic and charter schools have varying end dates, but none of them go past June 18th. This bus driver is SO very ready for summer too!!
answering from Birmingham, MI. Last day is 6/10 with an early dismissal. finals are this week and the class trips are next week. they're taking 54 7th graders to pensylvania by motor coach for four days of white water rafting, zip lining, trust evercises, swimming, kyaking, camp firs, smores and...tent camping. if that doesn't put some hair on his chest nothing will. LOL...happy summer all!!!
13th was their last day. Haven't looked to see when they go back but it is usually the second week in August
Last day is June 16, a half day. It was supposed to be June15, but we got a day added on due to snow. We all thought it was ridiculous that the last day of school would be a half day on a Monday. Now it's a half day on a Tuesday...I suspect most people will be treating the previous Friday as the last day of school. We don't go back until Sept. 8, though, so it'll be a longer summer break than usual.
Our school starts around the 20-22 of August and we've been out a week now.
We start school about August 25th. This year they are adding 2 days for snow/cold days so HS gets out 6/8 (would have been 6/4) and others on my side of town get out 6/9 (would have been 6/5). I think graduation is next weekend since it has to be planned in advance for the auditorium it is held, even snow days cannot change it.
I think my kids are getting the short end of the stick here! We always start mid-late August and get out mid-June. I hate it. This year they extended the year until June 17th, which is stupid. By the end EVERYONE is done...so no learning will take place, but whatever. They go back August 19th this year - again, stupid.
I think it should be Labor Day (Tuesday that week)-Memorial Day (Thursday that week).
Out June 4th, back the week before Labor Day.
Out June 4th, they'll be back August 12th.
Half day June 5th and usually start after Labor Day. This year may be a week earlier for a start date.
My high school DD, June 4, public charter, no snow/cold days this year
My middle school DD, June 9, public, no snow/cold days this year
Don't ask me what day they start back, I don't think that far ahead. I know it's shortly after Labor Day.
Our last day is next Friday, June 5. We started in August so I don't know about ending at the beginning of June and starting that late. When I was a kid we started after Labor Day but we went until late June.
This year, we don't finish until June 18. We started the year September 2, I think. Definitely the first week of September sometime.
Next year, unfortunately, we are starting in August and finishing on June 8th. I hate the idea of starting in August. I'm with you - school shouldn't start before Labor Day.
We started Aug 6 and were supposed to get out on May 22. A few snow days were added, so our last day now is May 28. I like getting out in May.
We start the day after Labor Day and don't get out until June 6th for kids and June 8th for teachers. I teach and let me tell you, coming back from a 3 day weekend and facing two more weeks of school is horrid!! I would love to start at the end of August and be done before Memorial Day like when I was a kid. We were always in school 185 days. I never went to school into June until I moved to Minnesota. It's state law that public schools can't start until after Labor Day unless they get special permission. Starting before Labor Day would mess with the state fair and the resort season Up North. (No kidding.)
My kids attend a charter school in Fort Worth TX and due to snow/ice days we get out June 8th, previously it was June 4th. My kids are quite unhappy that they have to go to the last day of school on a Monday, lol. We start school August 20th.
Ours got out last Friday (May 22). But they start early here. The days of post-Labor Day are just a pipe dream. Our kids return to school about 8 days into August.
June 11th is the last day, they will go back the 26th of August. We live in western Montana.
Ours let out on May 20th and will be back in session mid-August.
I wish schools would go year round, with 2 week vacations between quarters.
We got out on Friday and go back August 12 or 13. It has never made sense to me how early school starts in AZ, as it is still so miserably hot!
Our school started the last week of August and we get out next week, first week of June. It seems like forever. We made up two snow days, just by going to school on a day they were supposed to be off for teacher service or something. I dislike how they are doing the school calendar. They get the entire week of Thanksgiving off, two weeks for Christmas/New Year's, a week of spring break, all of the federal holidays, two or three days where they get out at noon, and two or three days off for teacher conferences or some just because reason. I wish they would eliminate the early release days, teacher conferences days, and drop Thanksgiving to either two or three days off. That would save at least a week right there. I would much rather start after Labor Day than in August. Having a holiday so early in the school year is just annoying.
One child was done on the 22nd. One child will be done this Friday. School was starting as early as August 10th here but Iowa has passed a law to prevent schools from beginning before August 23rd.
We live in WA and finish June 10th and will start just after Labor Day weekend.
We start mid-Aug and get out before Memorial Day, unless there are days the school is closed for inclement weather, in which case those are tacked on to the end of the year. Our last day is 5/29 b/c we had a lot of bad weather this winter.
Our last day was May 21. We don't go to a charter school, just a regular public school. We usually start back up sometime around Aug 20th.
