When to Have My Son's Birthday Party/conflict with Memorial Day

My son was born almost six years ago...ON Memorial Day. Every year it has been difficult to decide when to have his party due to the holiday (and now with the end of the school year). Would you show up if the party was on the Saturday of Memorial Day weeknd? None of the other dates around there are working out for us this year. (and would you believe my daughter was born four days before Thanksgiving!?)

Thanks!!

What can I do next?

My step-son's birthday is Nov 28th...since he turned 6 we have had his friend's party 2 weeks before his birthday. He doesn't mind as long as he gets a party. Most kids won't mind either as long as they know they're getting one. We just explained to my son that more of his friends will be able to come if it isn't close to his actual birthday due to many going out of town. He's been perfectly fine. He is 9 1/2 now.

Don't make it a big deal as to it not being "on" their birthday and neither will they. Even if it's after their birthday.

Hope this helps.

My middle daughter has a May 28th birthday and it's always hard. We usually do it the 3rd weekend in June. It just seems easier. The rush of schools out for summer has calmed down. Sometimes it's nice when there are people out of town and it's not so crowded! We have a pool so everyone brings their families to swim! Good luck

i always had this problem too, my bday is on the 29th...anyway i always used to have my party the last week of school, it would be early but that way more people would be able to come! & it was always a fun way to have my bday & celebrate school ending!

My daughter was born the weeknd After memorial day...may 31, 2006.

We were moving the weekend of her first birthday last year so we were going to have it on memorial day weekend instead.

My husbands family always camps out for memorial day weekend so we went out of town to the camp site and had her pary and BBQ there. It turned out okay all the family was there that would not of been able to come up to where we live so she did get a lot of gifts.

This year we are having her party on her birthday where we live. We have invited the family to come up and hopefully they will.

i would say throw the party on his birthday and have it as a Memorial BBQ/Birthday party celebration...I think it would be fine. I am sure it will be mostly a family party though. I would ask his friends parents if it is okay for his friends to come over for his party and maybe do a sleep over as well.

Good luck!

I would go to a party on Memorial Day weekend if we were in town. However, my husbands family has a reunion every year. I always had trouble growing up with birthday parties since my birthday was during Spring Break. If you're worried about it, I don't see anything wrong with postponing it a couple weeks when school gets out. You could do a family celebration and make the day special for your son, and then just do his friend party in a couple weeks.

We have a Family Campout that weekend on May 24th/25th at Meadowmere Park on Lake Grapevine that would be fun for you guys to come out to. Invite his friends to come. We will have Archery, Target Shooting, Kayaking, Fishing, a Scavenger Hunt, and more. Dinner Saturday night with Smores around the campfire and a full breakfast the next day. Kids are $15 each and includes their activities and food. Get a big tent and they could all sleep together...play flashlight tag at night. Could be the best birthday party ever! Call me if you are interested or have questions. we take care of everything...you just come and enjoy!
