Hi there,

I'm on day 30 of my cycle and still no period and three pregnancy tests have come up negative. Having said that, my period only resumed in August, once I had cut back on nursing...and it was a short, 2 day period. 30 days later I got a normal, heavy period that lasted about 6 days. I know that cycles can be irregular when they return so I'm just wondering if anyone else had experiencing with irregular cycles once they cut back on nursing? Also, my 15 month old has been nursing more this month than last, so could that have delayed my period again...or is it more that once it's back, it's back? I've always been regular so this is new to me!

We did have sex a few times during the time I assumed I was ovulating (mid-cycle)...so I suppose there is sitll the possibility that I could be pregnant but that the hormone levels aren't high enough yet.

What can I do next?

I breastfed my son for 14.5 months... 5 months later - and my period is still irregular. Prior to getting pregnant, my cycles were exactly 28 days apart. Now after weaning, my cycles vary - anywhere from 28 - 33 days. Weaning my son has certainly affected my menstrual cycle. I have been patiently waiting for my cycles to get back to normal, but no such luck yet.

I stopped nursing my son last November when he was 12 mos and it took 6 weeks for my period to come back and then they were irregular until June. I had 2 months of exactly 28/29 days and then prego again....Cutting back I would think would cause them to be even more irregular versus quitting altogether...good luck!

I weaned 6 months ago and even on the pill, my period is not regular, it usually comes after 24-35 days. Keep taking the pg tests but I think it takes a long time to be "normal" again!

It takes a while to get back to normal... and the normal might be a new normal. You really wont know what the normal will be until you've gone about 4 mos without nursing.

Oddly... my period has NEVER been regular, except for the first year it returned. It returned dead on a 28 day cycle and stayed that way for about 13/14 mo... then it went back to being wonky. Maybe I need to be sleep dep'd to be regular.
