Let those precious lock grow until he can sit on his own. you won't believe how attached you become to them.
my 9 month old son's hair is getting really long in back and on the sides. i need to have it cut somewhere where they're used to dealing with babies who never stay still for a minute. anyone have recommendations??? thanks!

Snippets in Yorktown Mall is good too - same concept as Cookie Cutters (different little cars/horses to sit on plus DVD's and toys to entertain your child). You can't go wrong at a place like that because the hair stylists are very patient and specialize in cutting hard-to-sit-still babies, toddlers and kids!
If you've got the money, you can try a place like Kid Snips or Cookie Cutters. They take pictures during the haircut and create a take-home certificate for the baby book with a clipping of hair. It's quite precious. Plus, Kid Snips plays a DVD (that you choose, or you can bring) on a personal screen for your child, which will keep your child sitting still. Kid Snips was $24 without tip. That's pretty darn expensive for a simple 10 minute haircut!
We also did the $20ish first haircut at Cookie Cutters. It was cute to have the picture, and the movie worked well. Plus there was a slide to go down afterwards. They also have cute little cars for them to sit in, which helps. After that, we've just gone to great clips...they're good with the kids & get it done fast!
Kidsnips is awesome with little kids - for the first haircut, they take a picture and give you a certificate of first haircut and some of the hair they cut off. It is a great keepsake.
We like Kidsnips in Oak Brook.
