My son is turning one and desperately needs a cut before his birthday party. He does not sit still, but when he watches his baby einstein movies. ( not sure if it will help while cutting his hair) I need a good place where they will do what Iwant and be patient with him and actually give him a good haircut. Is there a place and a person I should ask for? I live in Aurora by the outlet malls so hopefully not too far, but if the place and person is good willing to drive. Also do i need to make an appointment way ahead of time? Thanks so much

So What Happened?

So yesterday when I posted this I had only gotten one response and decided to go with it, since my son needed a haircut desperately. Thanks Mom K for referring me to Kelly at Snippets in Yorktown Mall.
I had to say the experience was wonderful, and yes we got to see Kelly and she did a great job. She was actually going to leave her shift was over at 5pm and we got there at a quarter too. My husband made the appt and he forgot to ask for her so when we got there and she heard me saying I had gotten referred to her she was sweet enough to finish up her work and stay to do my son's first haircut.
I cant say enough good things about her, she was very gentle, patient, kind and so sweet with my son.
My son did very well, she put on oneof his favorite movies, Baby Einstein and I fed him some snacks and he sat still the whole time.
I wanted to thank all of you for your suggestions as well , I really like Kelly and think I will continue to go with her, but will also try maybe one closer like in Naperville for those days I dont have time , or for a last minute emergency haircut.
I didnt stick around to see all the responsed I had gotten since my sons birthday is next week and wanted it to get done this week just in case it got messed up it gives us time for it to grow a little bit.
Thanks again, you ladies are the best !
Lisa

We took our son to Snippets at Yorktown Mall in Lombard.
Only about 20 minutes from Aurora.
They have tvs in front of the chairs so the kids are distracted.

I see a girl named Kelly. She is the only one we see. She is very good with my son and very patient.

Good Luck to you.

when our son turned 1, (he is now 19) we took him for his first haircut on his birthday. the kid through a fit!!! my husband had to hold him while they cut his hair. we took him to a Fantastic Sams. after that, we took him to a real barber.
the Yankee Clipper, in Oswego. Gary was really nice. It is located just off of Douglas Road near the mcdonald's. He finally quit squirming when i let him eat some mcdonald's fries during the haircut.

Yesterday I took my daughter to Boozle B's on Route 59 in Plainfield. It is a chain so they might have one closer to you. It is totally geared toward kids. They can watch TV/videos while getting a haircut. I have never been to Whippersnippers in Naperville but know people who have taken their kids there & liked it as well. Good Luck!

Love Kid Snips on Rt. 59 in Aurora!
They'll play a video while cutting your child's hair.
I've gone there 3 times so far and have never had any problems. Good luck!

We have been to Kid Snips at 95th and Rt. 59 in Naperville twice and I highly recommend. Miki did my son's hair both times and she is really good with layering and styling (not just a blunt cut). It's going to cost you about $16+tip but since it's for your son's first birthday it's worth it. They pop in their favorite video and sit them in a little car. My son is hard to get to sit still but here he does there no problems. I don't think you have to make appointment too far in advance either. Good luck!

I agree with Cookie Cutters. Great place for a first haircut. They play DVD's while the kids sit in little cars. The kids actually sit still to watch the show. For a few dollars more, you can get a photograph and certificate complete with a little bag of baby hair.

The BEST place is Boozle B's in Plainfield. Its at Rte 59 and 119th. Its not a chain though, its the only one, so you would have to go there. But it is SO worth it! Ask for Kathy or Anna--both do awesome haircuts and are so patient! The salon is totally geared to kids and mine love, love, love it!
