Hi mamas -- So I've been nursing my darling girl for over 9 months now...and my nursing bras are definitely showing some wear and tear. Can anyone point me to a great place to find plus-sized nursing bras so that I can replace mine asap? (I'm a 46 F at last measurement....9 months ago or so :)). The ones I have I got in my hometown in California at a boutique shop, so I'm a little at a loss about where to go in the city...any help will be GREATLY appreciated!!

What can I do next?

There is an absolutely amazing store in Park Slope, Brooklyn called BOING BOING! It has everything you need. Including Plus Size Bras. Someone suggested it to me while I was pregnant with my twins. It is a 1 stop shop. It's NY's best kept secret for moms and moms -to-be. They deliver too.

I'm rather fond of Orchard Corset Center for bras. Pre-pregnancy I was wearing DDDs and they have good stock. The place looks like you are in a stock room not store, but the prices are good. Half what I used to spend at Wizard of Bras in River Edge.

Last time I was in there we talked about nursing bras and they asked me to come back closer to my due date to get the best possible fit.

The Upper Breast Side has everything for breast feeding. Try there. It's on the Upper West Side, of course.

I can't help you with anywhere to buy plus-size nursing bras in NYC, but here in Bergen County, NJ (less than 30 min from the GWB)there is a place called "Wizard of Bras". They have 2 locations...Wyckoff, and River Edge. I can't promise the nursing bras, but they have a WIDE selection of bras, and carry up to a "J" cup.

Good luck in finding what you're looking for!

I would call first and make sure they carry your size (and in nursing0, but three places that do a WIDE range of sizes are My Intimacy (www.myintimacy.com), La Petite Coquette (www.thelittleflirt.com) and Bratenders (www.bratenders.com).

I've heard really great things about Bratenders for plus size in particular, but those ladies were not nursing so you'd just have to call first and check it out.

All of these place specialize in bra fitting.

I plan to hit one as soon as my baby arrives and my milk comes in.

Good luck.

I suggest The Upper Breast Side ###-###-####).
They are a good one-stop shop for nursing stuff - but you cannot be self-conscious when you go there, communal fitting room. They do have a crib and a nursing chair though, so that makes it easier if you have your child with you.

All you need to do is google ANITA nursing bras! I have tried EVERY brand of bra that comes in a 40 F (so I am sure they have 46F) and none of them were supportive enough or gave a somewhat decent shape under clothes - then I found this Anita brand and they are great! I even have one that has this little doo dad thing on the front that you slide back and forth to remember which side you last nursed on. I don't even need the reminder any more but I thought it was a great idea! I have them in an assortment of styles and colors and every one is awesome. Happy shopping!

Try the Upper Breast Side, it's on 72 and Amsterdam (I think). They are a little pricey, but have great customer service. They fit you and everything very well. Warning, it's a little bit of a handsy experience. I was a little shocked the first time I went, there isn't really a dressing room. They ladies just go in the back where all the bras and nursing clothes are and the women working there fit you. They also have anything you would possibly ever need for nursing, and if they don't have it they can help you find it.

I recently went to Intimacy on the Upper West Side and had a great experience, though that was for a non-nursing bra for a rare night out ;) I went to Upper Breast a while ago (a few years ago, with my middle baby who is now 5) and I didn't have a great experience there. BUT - I wanted to say - once you have a style/size you like and you know is a good fit, look for that same size/style/brand on eBay for better prices. I have bought brand new bras for half of retail cost through eBay, which is great, as I am an unusual size - small band but large cup, even when not nursing, and most of the bras that really fit me are upwards of $50-$60. Good luck and enjoy your little one!
