Where to Go with Active 2 Year Old Twins?

I'm going to keep my eyes out for responses on this question. I have boy/girl twins as well and I know exactly what your talking about. Christine

First I would not suggest Sesame Place. At this age there is tons there that your kids can't do (there was tons there that my almost 4 yr old couldn't do). Plus its very expensive to get in. We took my kids this past summer to New Hampshire. We went to StoryLand and Santa's Village. We stayed at the North Conway Grand Hotel (very nice and just down the street from StoryLand, about 10-15 mins away). At your kids age they'd most likely get in free to both parks (if not, you can get into both parks for what it cost to get into Sesame Place). And depending on their size they can ride almost everything. My almost 4 yr old could ride EVERY SINGLE ride, with my hubby or I. And there were even some that my 10 1/2 mo old could go on too. We went last year about June 14 (before the schools got out). Story Land was open on friday, so we went there that day. We never waited in any line. And could ride the rides repeatedly very quickly, getting off and then right back on again. We did Santa's Village (Jefferson, NH) on Sat, and again...no lines and ride over and over. My hubby spoke to people who went to Story Land on Sat and they all said they waited in lines for atleast 30 mins. It was the best family vacation. If you do decide here, you need to eat at Muddy Moose's. It's super loud and rowdy inside so your kids screaming won't make a difference. My son still askes to go there. We took a long weekend and did it. Well worth the drive. My son loved it.

I second the cruise idea! Just make sure you pick one with a daycare/babysitting option, so you get a little break. Carnival and Disney cruises have really fun programs for kids, so they'll have a ball. And they even have evening stuff and in-room babysitting, so you can go out sometimes!

Another option is the Beaches resorts. I've never been, but they look wooooonderfull... :)

When my kids were little we went to Vermont to a place called Smugglers Notch. It was great they have all day camps for children as young as yours with activities planned all day long. I am not the type to trust my kids with just anyone and I was completely comfortable with the camp councilors. It was a nice vacation because the camps are optional, but my kids wanted to go so it gave my husband and I some time to relax as well. It is beautiful you get a condo, with a kitchen, and washer dryer and a beautiful view. The air is clean and all of the pools are heated. They have i think 6 water areas and one is designated to just adults. It was almost like going on a cruise but staying on land. Activities are planned from morning till late afternoon. You can go on the website www.smugglersnotch.com and they will send you info. My kids came from camp so tired and happy. We would give them their baths, go for dinner and put them to bed. It was the kind of vacation where we were not looking for things to do it was already planned out for us. They even have time-share available for winter weeks and ski camps. Sesame Place in PA. We took our 2 boys (at the time 3 1/2 and 16 months) there last summer and they had an amazing time! Plenty to do for both. Good deals online. Have fun!

when my twin girls were 2 we went to disney (fl). stayed at contemporary hotel. the pool area was great too (WITH sand). the rides were great. my girls loved it. they also liked hershey park, PA. we stayed at a nearby hotel and did a whole day in the park (even skipped nap). they were 3 when we went to hershey park. i'd love to go to turks and caicos but need to apply for a portion of that gazillion stimulus first haha

How fun that you are planning a vacations with your twins!!!
The vacation that my twins talk about the most was not really a vacation in the strict sense of the word but it was a trip. The idea was we would stop at a playground in a different city all the way from NY to NC and play there for one hour. At some we ate, but not always. The trip took twice as long, but it was so much fun, and so relaxing.Each playground was different. First one had a "telephone system" set up where they could "talk" to each other on the tin cans, It was a big hit. The cost was simply two nights hotel fee. By the way, our first &/or the last playground was the pool at the hotel. Not necessarily a vacation to take in Dec. in the north.
If you wanted someplace exotic well, when they were little we didn't have that kind of money, hey, we don't have that money now. Would rather spend it differently, I guess.
Hey, you are young enough to be one of my kids, why not ask your mom, she might have some great ideas as well.

I just took my 3 year old twins (and 5 year old) to Beaches Hotel at Turks & Caicos. It was fabulous! Two words: KIDS CLUB! I dropped my kids off during the day at the kids' club - they loved it (they do cooking with cookie monster and exercise with Elmo). Plus there is a kiddie pool there and they all wear life vests in the pool. Tons of staff for the kids. And my husband and I got to enjoy ourselves. So I'd highly recommend it. It's pricey, but it's all inclusive (alcohol, food, kids club all included). You can even put the kids in the kids camp from 6 to 9 at night so you can eat by yourself. They also have sitters who come to your room for $15/hour.

what about Disneyworld? Or Sesame Place?

I always suggest a cruise vacation for families with children, they have childcare, all the entertainment and food you could want and family activities to keep everyone happy and busy. You can always lounge poolside or catch a workout while the kids are in childcare and they give you a pager to keep tabs on them so if there is an issue they can get you back to your kids. Carnival is very reasonable and fun. Since we don't plan to be in the room much we are going to get an inside cabin to save money and enjoy the ship for all we get.
