I.K.
If you want to take a trip downtown, we've always liked the Santa in the 900 N Michigan building. The kids get a stuffed toy (my sons got snowmen). He is very realistic and friendly.
I have not taken my daughter to sit on Santa's lap before - but she's 4 now I think it's only fair to give it a shot. But the thought of dealing with Navy Pier doesn't exactly put me in the holiday spirit.
Any other suggestions on where to find a Santa who will let my little ones sit on his lap for a few minutes?
Thanks.
Thank you all so very much for your feedback.
I decided to go with the Santa @ 900 N. Michigan. It was a mad house but thanks to being type A we were about 8th in line, and the wonderful people @ 900 N. started EARLY! So it was great! Santa was so very real, and sweet my Nora wasn't afraid at all - jumping right up to rattle off her list (which changes every hour btw). My Ollie just sat on his lap and stared up at him with Christmas wonder (or just the typical 10 month old wonder!)
They were each given a bear and we wrapped it up with lunch at Potbellys before heading home. :)
Thanks Mamas! Merry Christmas!

The Santa at Bloomingdales on Michigan is fantastic we have gone for the past 4 years, my Daughter is now 5 years old. Line gets long, however the picture is a lovely memory to keep.
enjoy

We've always gone to Santa's House at Kriskindlemarket. It's a few blocks west of Macy's. You can take photos or they will do it for you (for a fee).
The Santa at the HIP (Harlem-Irving Plaza) was wonderful this year. Real beard, super friendly and they also give you a coupon for a free mini-cookie (BIG HIT FOR THE KIDS). We took our own pictures and purchased one (although you don't have to). Very friendly Santa, elves, etc!
Macy's State Street (downtown) has a Santa there every day during regular business hours until Christmas. You can bring your own camera to take pics. I'm a bad mommy -- got all the info, but have been procrastinating! ;)
Good luck and happy holidays!
Macy's on State Street. If you go during the week, there is a really short line
For future reference, you might consider a Village-hosted Santa event. Most municipalities personally know the Santa and can vouch for him, the lines are often shorter than commercial venues, and Santa's visits are usually part of an evening of other fun, holiday activities (caroling, breakfast with Santa, sleigh rides, etc.). Best of all, it's right down the street!
Have you tried your local mall. They always have Santa sittings.
I agree with Nicki, the Santa at the HIP is great.
This year though we went to ABT Electronics and got a FREE picture. They take and print your picture for FREE. You can also use your own camera. There was no line and they had someone making balloon stuff. They also have FREE chocolate chip cookies.
Just went yesterday to Macy's. Great Santa with a real beard.
We have a tradition to go to Macy's on State street. We also have dessert by the big tree in the Walnut Room. Have fun!
Good morning, have you tried the Malls? I know that Evergreen plaza and For City Mall has a Santa every year. Check on the websites of the diferent Malls in your area.
