My family is moving to the St Louis area in the next month or so and I am a registered nurse. I'm going to be looking for a job in maternal/newborn health in a hospital setting. I don't know anything about the hospitals in the area. Which ones are good to work for? Are there are any other nurses out there who can tell me about the different hospitals and their reputations? Any information would be greatly appreciated!

What can I do next?

I can tell you DO NOT WORK AT ST. ANTHONY'S. They are absolutely terrible with patients!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did medical marketing and my mom is the administrator for a doctor in st. louis and st. anthony's is all politics, bad medicine. She worked there for 20 years and hates it!

Des Peres is a good one. I know lots of happy people there. Good luck!

i am a Rn and I work for christian but they dont have ob. I recommend missouri baptist or st.johns. It really depends on the benifits you want. MO Bap is better in some areas, st.johns is better in others. I highly recommend those two places.

E.,

I am not a registered nurse but I did work at St John's for two years and found it to be a very nice hospital to work for. I thought the benefits were decent and not super expensive and my supervisor was really nice. As I said, I am not a nurse so I don't know what it's like to work in the nursing field for the hospital and the benefits and such may be slightly different for nurses. St John's is part of Unity and it is located on Ballas Road. I hope this helps a little bit! Good Luck with your move and welcome to St Louis!!
Take care L. C

Hi, I am an ER nurse working in the St. Louis area. I have worked at several hosptials here. I am in the ER, which is different from where you work, but I just had a baby at Missouri Baptist Medical Center. I can tell you that they are a pretty nice hospital, working for Magnet status, I believe. The nurses were very kind and up-to-date in their thinking about things such as natural child-birth etc. Missouri Baptist Medical Center is part of the BJC network of hospitals here in St. Louis. They have good benefits and generally practice good medicine. Stay abreast of new research and implement it. I find their ERs are the best in this area for patient safety and respect for their nurses.
Hope this helps!
