This is the reason why I dont get them and neither does my family. Plus do you really know what is in them?
Why is it every time I get a flu shot, I still get sick, every year?

You are catching a variety of the flu that you were not vaccinated for. Or you caught the common cold and not the actual flu.
The flu shot is NOT a live virus, so if someone gets sick... purely coincidental.
This is why I have never gotten one. I have seen all my friends get the shot then get sick.
Sorry your not feeling well. Try not getting the shot next year.
Because its like taking a hose to your immune system.... it kills it.
Vitamin D is more effective than the flu shot, which is a crapshoot in effectiveness. You could get vaccinated for the current strain, you likely will get a strain thats not active this year. Its not worth it. Save your immune system, eat healthy, exercise, get enough sleep, get plenty of Vitamin D... you will fare much better.
My parents got the flu shot 2 years in a row, and those 2 years they both caught the flu. Neither one of them had it for years before that. So I refuse to get the shot, I don't think it does any good.
Why, exactly do you get it anymore? Are you in a high risk group? (health care worker, low immune system) I've never had O....
You might have a weak immune system.. Try eating lots of healthy foods including yogurt before getting the shot. Boost your immune system before getting it..
I have gotten the shot for 4 years now and not once did I get sick.
FYI.. the "flu" shot is not to stop the stomach virus, but it is to keep you from being down for 1-2 weeks. Most people think that the Flu is the stomach virus, which it is not.
Are you getting sick, or the actual flu? You can get VERY sick and not have the flu, which is a specific illness. Also, there are a wide variety of flu viruses out there. They pick the top three likely candidates and formulate the vaccine for those. If you are unlucky enough to encounter a different one, you could get that. But it seems unlikely you are getting the flu every year, since even without the flu shot most people don't get the flu.
Not sure why...but I have heard the same thing from hosts of other people. I have not...nor have my kid or husband ever gotten the flu shot.
Good luck and best wishes at getting better soon! Maybe next year skip the shot.
You are getting sick because (a) you are receiving a dose of attenuated or possibly live flu virus in the shot, thereby infecting you, and (b) you are receiving adjuvants (chemicals which make it possible for vaccine manufacturers to use less of the flu virus, such as squalene and thimerosol (a mercury compound)) which damage and impair your immune system, making it harder for you to fight off the infection.
Recent studies show that flu shots do NOT provide immunity to the flu. Even if they did, the immunity would only be for specific strains of the flu which would not necessarily be the ones going around. What flu shots do is create a vector for the flu, giving it to you and allowing you to give it to others.
Don't take the flu shots. Please.
There could be a few things:
1. you aren't getting the flu, but something else. The flu shot won't keep you from getting sick at all, it will protect against 3 strains of the influenza virus.
2. you were exposed to the flu prior to getting the shot and hadn't yet developed symptoms when you got your flu shot. It takes time after you get the shot before you have any immunity built up.
3. you get a strain of the flu that the shot doesn't protect against.
Why don't you NOT get the shot and see what happens? My husband and I have not gotten a flu shot in over 20 years and the only thing I get is my annual sinus infection because of my terrible allergies. We are NEVER sick. Our kids have NEVER had a flu shot (they are 15, 12 and 9) and they have not thrown up for years either. In fact, my 12 yo had perfect attendance from K-end of 4th grade. Good luck.
In order to produce enough vaccine, the CDC has to make an educated guess 18 months ahead about which 3 or 4 strains are most likely to be prevalent for the given flu season. In the years that they guess more accurately, there is a lower statistical incidence of flu nationwide. In the years that they guess less accurately, there is a higher incidence of flu. And since there are a gajillion strains of flu, and new ones can crop up in the space of 18 months (just like H1N1 did), no organization can ever be entirely accurate in their estimates.
My 4-year-old and I get the flu shot every year, and we have never had the flu. Nor do we have any reactions to the shots. We also try to eat healthy, get plenty of sleep, and do other sensible things to avoid illness. But our experience doesn't mean much, just as individual stories of people who don't get the shot not getting the flu don't mean much. Statistics can be interpreted in a lot of different ways, but you can usually see a consistent pattern with the flu shots if you look at the percentages over time.
Because they are injecting the flu directly into you and your body has to get used to that strain and learn how to fight against it. My family never gets the flu shot including my 3 children and we have never gotten the flu.
No one in my family gets it (EVER) and none of us get the flu (EVER).
We have never gotten flu shots, and have not gotten the flu in years! I think as long as you practice good hand washing, especially in public places, you should be fine :-)
Try not getting one! They're only about 10% effective, sometimes harmful, and make many people sick. My grandma died after getting the new one last year. My husband got one and got sick years ago, I've never had one nor have my kids, and never will! Extra vitamin d is what our md says!
The flu shot can only protect you from getting a few certain strains of influenza, and then only if your immune system reacts to the shot correctly. There are still a wide variety of viruses that you may become sick from even after getting the flu shot. And if you are one of the few people whose immune system does not properly "learn" from the shot, you can still get that strain of the flu.
Could be that you are exposed to the virus before you get the shot or before your body has a chance to build up immunity. It could also be an exposure to a strain that is not covered in the shot as others have mentioned. For more info, you can visit the CDC's website: http://www.cdc.gov/flu/protect/keyfacts.htm
I have gotten my flu shot every year and never have had a problem.
This past friday I got my shot, and OMG
I was sick all weekend long and still am trying to get over this
terrible sinus infection!!
I don't know what I am going to do next year.
I feel for you
