Hello everyone. Being a part of Mamasource, I have noticed that many Moms are self-employed. I'm currently a sahm looking to do the same thing. My problem is that much of the information available seems to be either a mentoring program or a pyramid scheme. I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice on how to get started. Are there websites that you are familiar with that have turned out to be profitable for you? So many of those things are scams, I feel much more comfortable hearing from moms who are actually a part of the system. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi C.,
I left my job in advertising/marketing about 7 months ago to be a stay-at-home mom and have found Baby Splendor to be a nice source of extra income. I'm an Independent Consultant for them -- they're similar to Tupperware and Pampered Chef except all of the products are fun, innovative baby and kids items! All of the products are sold through home parties or catalog/web sales. Take a peek at the products at my website -- www.susiemaryellen.mybabysplendor.com.

Baby Splendor is a member of the Direct Selling Association. They were also recently written about in BusinessWeek magazine -- I can send you a copy of the article if you'd like. There are minimal fees for your starter kit which includes catalogs, brochures, 10 products and a training manual. It costs $149 to start but you only have to put $25 down. The balance is due after 30 days. This is absolutely not a pyramid scheme. You do make money if you sign people up under you, but the company is completely legitimate. I personally know the founders and have worked with them previously (before we all had kids).

If you decide to become a consultant, you earn a minimum of 25% commission on all of your sales. There are no monthly minimums or sales quotas. The products are fantastic (I use practically all of them with my 1-year old son) and they really do sell themselves.

I can provide you with more information if you're interested in learning more. Please e-mail me at ____@____.com a side note, there is a Baby Expo this weekend (9/23) at the Tinley Park Convention Center and Baby Splendor will have a booth there. We will have a ton of products available to see/buy. I will be staffing the booth along with another consultant in the Chicago area.

I have been a skin care consultant for Mary Kay for over 2 years and love it. It is definately not a scam but then again it is all who you come in contact with. With any one of the direct marketing companies, if you have a smooth talking sales type then you will definately feel it is a scam. My advice is to actually take a look at the marketing plan and the company information for itself and not look at the messengers. Just as in religion...the people can screw it up but the actual religion might have great morals.

Anyway if you ever want to come to a Monday night meeting and be a face model so that we can get practice, we will usually give you the scoop if you want to hear. Then you could take the info and compare it with anything else you may be looking at.

Lots of momy love-Good luck:)

Hi C., My name is L., I live in Downers Grove and have 5 Children. I have meet a group of awesome Moms that had the same desire I did, We all wanted to make an income without leaving our children.

As I'm sure you know, there are all kinds of work from home idea's out their now, and Ive tried a few, they were either scams, cost a fortune it join or just didn't work for me.

I have found out about a reputable on line wellness store that is much like Costco or Sam's club, they are a consumer wholesale direct store. their products are safer for you and your family, healthier for everyone and the environment and cheaper than any major store, even Walmart or Target. Their products are all guaranteed to work as well if not better than what we are buying now, or your money back, no questions asked.

They are so sure that you will love their store, they are now offering to give you 100.00 in free products just for trying them!

We are working in partnership, using our first hand knowledge of their store and awesome products. Word of mouth referring is their only advertising. So just for telling people about them, I get a check.

Now for my business, I do not have stock, inventory, deliver products, collect money, do billing or collections, all I do is tell people where to shop to save money and keep their family healthy.

This is so easy to learn, and fun to do, and there is no risk! Here are some informative websites you can check out for yourself. www.livetotalwellness.com/lahart and www.2achievethedream.com. This really works! You and nothing to lose! This is truly an awesome opportunity.

Hi Denise

I haven't been able to find any legit data entry work which is very unfortunate. So I am concentrating in my direct selling - Pampered Chef, Thirty-One Gifts (really great stuff) and Two Sisters Gourment. If any of these interest you, please let me know. I can give you the low down and they all have little or nothing needed to join. :)

Good luck! If I hear of anything in Admin field, I will let you know and I hope you do the same.

:o)

C.,

I am a stay at home mom and recently started my own business with Arbonne International. I thought it was a scam or some kind of pyramid scheme at first so I googled "Arbonne scam" and found a website www.corporatenarc.com as well as other sites talking about the pro's and con's of network marketing. I also looked further into "network marketing" or "multi-level marketing" and found that though it once had many bad apples in the mix, is now a very accepted business model that is regulated with strict standards. Even companies like IBM, Bath and Body Works and Citibank have divisions of network marketing to market their products. Look at the Direct Selling Association website www.dsa.org and check out the member directory. Actually, look at the Board of Directors and what companies are represented. Arbonne's Chairman and CEO, Bob Henry is on the board. He also was this year named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2006.

It took me about 6 months of researching and reading to conclude that not only is MLM (multi-level-marketing) a real and incredible business model but that Arbonne is the right company to join. They are being referred to as the "Starbuck's" of MLM. They have grown an average of 100% over the last 5 years (including the year of 9/11) and last year they had 164% growth.

I find myself wanting to share the Arbonne Opportunity with other mamasource Mom's because there is this incredible camaraderie and it would be so great to work with other stay-at-home mom's and to help other Mom's be able to spend more quality time with their children and less time worrying about money.

The fact is though, it isn't a fit for everyone. It takes someone that is motivated and dedicated to plugging into the resources available and ready to treat this business like the million dollar opportunity it is. It takes a dedicated 10-15 hours a week to do this business.

There is much personal growth that happens in my company because the most common and biggest hurdle most deal with is their own insecurities. One of the sayings in the company is "get out of the way of yourself" so you can let yourself succeed. Another is "if you think you will succeed or fail, you are absolutely correct".

I hope this is helpful in a general way.

In a more specific way, if you would like to check out more about Arbonne, please go to my website at www.foryourhealthandwealth.myarbonne.com also the company website is www.arbonne.com

I would love to talk or email more with you about this opportunity and hear what you are looking for to see if it might be a fit for you. My direct email address is ____@____.com Also, I'm not sure where you live but the Chicagoland area has a few Arbonne events coming up in September and October that you could check out as well.

If at all intrigued, please drop me a note and we'll go from there. Either way, I wish you the best of luck! All Mom's should have the opportunity to stay home with their children and the time and financial freedom to be involved in their lives!
