Work from Home Jobs - Seven Valleys,PA

I know this question has been asked before but I would really like to find a legitimate work from home job. We moved to PA last fall because my husband had the opportunity to change careers and work in mortgage banking. The economy is beating us right now and he isn't making any money. I know he doesn't want to quit but we need to pay our bills. I am in school to be a teacher but won't be finished until the end of 2011. For me to go back to work before then means daycare costs and my qualifications for optometry tech won't net us much in the end. So....my question is - are there any jobs that don't require start up fees and pyramid schemes? Thanks ladies for reading my story and for any help you may have :)

What can I do next?

no.

Most of the work at home requests as you have seen on this site are flooded with the MLM'rs trying to recruit new sales, investors, recruitors.

Be very careful when weighing these options out. Some people love them and swear by them. Do you really want to be the person in your neighborhood/school everybody runs from when they see you coming?

You are in training to be a teacher. How about providing tutoring for children. In my area, a good tutor makes $50+ an hour. This can help you and a student. You can do it at night as long as children are in care of dad. As for optometry tech, some places are open on Sat. I am sure some of the M-F techs would like to have the Sat free?

Best wishes.

I work from home - start up is $40 and you don't need a lot of inventory - none, actually. I'm a former teacher and I work with a lot of teachers.

My company trades on the NASDAQ so that means it is approved by all 50 State Attorneys General - any one of them could stop that if the company wasn't legitimate.

What do you mean by pyramid schemes? That's pretty much the corporate structure! The few guys at the top make all the money, and the little people at the bottom who do all the work get nothing. As long as you're not involved in a Bernie Madoff financial investment thing where there is no product involved, just a lot of shuffling around of money, it's not a pyramid. They're illegal anyway. And when I buy something at the supermarket, I know it's been marked up and a lot of people got money along the way - the manufacturer, the distributor, the ad agency, the trucking company, the store manager, the stock clerk, the cashier, the medical insurance company....and my price reflects that! That's a legal pyramid!

The trick is to find a really stable company with a real product and strong ethical business practices. There are ways to determine this.

Since you are already taking some education classes, you may already have some of the requirements necessary to work at an early childhood center (daycare.) I did it in college (I was a teacher's aide). Each states' requirements for employees is different, but I suspect that it would just be a few classes. For me, I only needed to take 2 online classes (I was allowed to take them while ALREADY working for them), as I had already fulfilled the other requirements by taking some of my core curriculum classes.

Daycares typically offer free or drastically reduced tuition to the children of their employees. It it a great way to still be with them (not necessarily in the same classroom, but at least the same building) and to make some real income.

Check out both the forums at wahm.com and workplacelikehome.com. They have great leads there for jobs.

Some telephone jobs you may want to look into are west at home, liveops, and Arise.

If you have any skill at writing you can make extra money with it. Some place that will pay you for articles are Textbroker, Demand Studios, and Wordgigs.

Hi K.---Yes, there are jobs/businesses that don't require huge start up fees. Pyramid schemes are illegal. Many home based businesses are a form of network marketing. It seems that you may have had a less than positive experience with one in the past?

What are your interests? That may help determine the direction you want to go. Are you interested in health and wellness education? Disease prevention? Taking control of your health and genetic outcomes? If so, I would love to share with you what I do.

I am an independent distributor with a company that markets a research based whole food supplement. The main focus of our activity is health education, based on the hundreds of doctors that advocate diet as disease prevention. We also have support from mainstream media which increasingly tells us that our diet is the most important factor in regards to our health.

Our focus is on our product. If you want to help others, then inevitably you will attract others that want to do the same. That is where you build a team of like minded people who are also concerned with prevention and helping others, if you want to. Again, no requirements to do so. Our business model combines the best of several others, among them network marketing, franchises and even components of corporate compensation. The company is 40 years old, has always been involved with 'health', is debt free and has experienced double digit growth for the past 12 years. Depending on what you are willing to do, we could have you earning a minimum of $500 a month within 6 months. Would that help your family's budget?

I'm not sure if I've shared how unique that we are. In fact, this is not how we usually introduce our business. 85% of our product goes to customers only...you don't have to, nor will you be pressured to sign up to get the product. That means that most distributors come from satisfied customers. It is a relationship business...direct sales...just like you recommending a restaurant or movie and then getting paid for it. But since you asked, and since I am wanting to find others help me share the gift of health, I thought I'd throw it out there. Let me know if you would like to investigate my website, and I'd be happy to share that with you.

Looking forward to talking to you. D. ###-###-####

I have been looking for the last 4-5 years and I haven't found anything where you make money from. I tried Avon but for the work you put in unless you have a down line and they all have down lines of your own which takes years IF it happens just isn't worth the money.

It's not a "scheme" but I do work in an MLM that has to do with natural health products. If you decide you would like to see more about it just ask me and I'll send you a link.

Good Luck and tell your husband to hang in there. Maybe look for another company. Some Mortgage Companies are starting to do well.

I am a teacher and my husband has been laid off for 9 months now. We have 3 small boys. I started my Scentsy business to pay a bill or two a month. Scentsy has been so great for our family. I have looked into and tried other home based businesses before. I have found Scentsy to be the most family friendly.

Scentsy is a wickless, flameless, smokeless, soot free alternative to filling your home with an inviting aroma. Scentsy provides an industry leading, family-friendly business opportunity selling creative, artistic, high-quality products.

Check out my website, shoot me an email or give me a call. I'd be happy to talk with you! ~ J.

I second the tutoring suggestion. That was how I paid for a lot of my living expenses in college. You can also look into working at a place like Sylvan Learning, or Huntington. They pay their tutors fairly well, and they have really flexible schedules including evenings and weekends (after all, that's when the kids aren't in school). That would also help build your resume when you're looking for a teaching job in a few years.

I also have a friend who sells Discovery Toys - I would be happy to put you in contact with her if you send me a message. She loves it - and it was their family's sole income for 2 years while her husband was out of work. She also goes on a trip on them every year - places like Costa Rica, etc.

My sister in law sells Melaleuca products. I don't know how well that is going for her, but she loves the products.

I also have a friend who sells Lia Sophia products, but I don't think she makes very much doing that.

Good luck!
