I am sure there are so many people out there experiencing money issues but I desperately need to know how to make a little extra money from home. I am a stay at home mom of 3 boys under the age of 4. My husband graduated college in December and has had no luck finding work (in his field) , in this economy, to support our little family. We are desperate and I would love to hear any ideas on what we can do to make extra income to care for our children. I can't go to work because it would cost more to pay for the daycare for our 3 kids than I would even make! I would love to find something I could do online or from home. I would appreciate any tips or ideas. Thanks.

***ADDING THIS:
I just read this article about jobs in demand now:
http://msn.careerbuilder.com/Article/MSN-2374-Job-Info-an...

Instead of looking for jobs in his given degree or field... just look for jobs.

A friend's husband, was laid off. He had a highly successful white collar job and drove around a Mercedes. They lived comfortably. They have 3 kids.
The next time I saw him... he was driving a van... and was doing landscaping/yardwork. Just to have a job... and the medical coverage. He was not the least bit embarrassed. I highly respected him for that.... to be able to make himself employable... some how.

Even if it means working 2 jobs, or day and night jobs... or something... main thing is to have medical coverage... especially since you have children...

all the best,
Susan

I know this isn't working from home...but I do not have to pay daycare!

I work very PT at my local grocery store...I am a baker and I go to work at 4am and bake french bread and frost donuts...I am able to be off work at 8am M-F, so that I can be home to get my one son off to school before Dad has to leave for work...it is hard getting up that early and then having to stay awake and be functional to take care of my other 2 lil' kids...but your body will adjust, mine did!~I will sometimes put in 1-8hr day on the weekends, usually Saturday from 5am-1:30p

It is not ideal...but we needed some extra money and I do not/will not ever want someone else taking care of my kids besides me and our family...this allows me to make some much needed extra cash and not have to pay for daycare!

Just a thought.

Someone suggested signing up with a temp agency in another post.

I know this isn't working from home, but if you both sign up with every temp agency in your area, then you can take jobs when he's not working and vice versa - just until he finds good permanent work.

Also, I started out this way myself after college. I'm in the IT field, but I took any administrative office job I could get, and I made sure that everyone I worked for knew my full skill set. I made a lots of contacts that I could network with.

I asked them if I could call them back now and then to see if there was anything I could do to help them. I even offered to let them call me for minor desktop computer issues for free, just so I could keep in touch with them.

Then one of my contacts called me several months later and told me about a permanent fairly decent paying job. Because I had developed a repoir with my contact who knew the owner of this company, I was the only one interviewed and was hired on the spot. It wasn't a great job, but it was a stepping stone in the right direction until I found something better.

Your husband should also sign up with every Recruiting Agency possible, like Monster.com and all agencies that recruit in his field. He may consider taking a job out of town at least until he can find something closer.

Good luck!

Did your husband graduate with his nursing degree?(read your profile) If so, there are definitely jobs out there for him. By 2012, there will be about a 40 percent shortage of RNs in the field due to the medical care needed by all of the retiring baby boomers. I researched going to nursing school quite heavily before deciding what to go to school for. He may need help with finding out what avenues are open to him. The nursing profession is need driven and not affected so much by fluctuating economies, except where pay is concerned. I just googled "nursing jobs los lunas new mexico" and hundreds of pages came up, even ones like this that offer relocation packages to Los Lunas.

Dear K.,

Like you K., I had never met the person who introduced me to my home based biz but I was only a phone call away from something that dramatically changed my life physicallly and fiscally. Have you heard of Juice Plus+?

My passion is prevention through whole food and K., my website has a 12 minute video on it which is www.vineripejuiceplus.com and a picture is worth a thousand words.

FYI, we are all about giving people a way to have the flexibility of still being available for their children as they grow up but also giving them a purpose that touches families in a very powerful way.

K. I love your desire to create income without losing precious family time, when can we schedule some time to talk?

My very best,

What are your qualifications? Can you do something with your skills. Maybe data entry, work temp, retail on days your hubby can watch children, deliver papers while babies are asleep, etc..... Nother's Day out program, create your own daycare.

Working at home is a job and requires focus and self discipline. If you are on phone lines, you can't have the background noise of little children.

With this type of posts, it brings recruiters for all the MLM type "at home" jobs. A lot of people love the MLM type opportunity. It takes a special personality....recruit, sell, invest, host parties, etc. In my community, we run when we see them coming because you are getting hit up to listen to the "no obligation" pitch, sign up and purchase whatever it is.

Your husband may have to look outside the box as far as his opportunities.

Best wishes to you and I hope you find something that suits you.

Hello K.,

This might be something of interest to you. How about capitalizing from services that you already use. Moreover, you can capitalize from services that others already use. By becoming part of the team in this company you have the benefit of earning income from services that everybody uses. Take a look for yourself. www.5linx.net/L463365
It can be done both from home and online. We started in this to earn additional income because we would like to homeschool our children when they begin school.

If you have any questions, e mail me at ____@____.com
Hopefully this works for you. Best wishes.

Dear K.,

I feel for you and your family. So many people I know are now unemployed. If you are going to run a home business online, I would suggest the following from my experiences (some good, some bad).

1) Pick something that you are passionate about and know more about than most people. For me it was stress management which is why I set up www.stompstressaway.com .

2) If you or your husband are not comfortable with developing your own web page (getting a domain name, desgining the site, etc.), I would hire an IT person to do it. I used a graduate student who was very good and less expensive then most.

3) Have a hook as to why people should invest in your product. for me it was offering a one time $1 investment to access my stress management site 24/7. You will be surprised how many people there are out there who took me up on this offer. If your expertise/passion is knitting for example, offer a price a little under your competition.

4) Treat your members/customers like gold. A lot of people view online business as money and profits only, but it is really about helping people with your passion and expertise while bringing in extra income to help pay the bills.

Best of luck!

Regards,
C. B., Ph.D. www.stompstressaway.com

You're already home with your boys, why not babysit for some neighbors or friends that want to save some money with daycare! You could place an add that your are caring for children in your home. If someone who pay $175 a week for a baby at daycare, and you charge them $100 a week, they will save $300 a month! Btw- I know it takes a special kind of person to care for others children. You may already have your hands full! My friend has 4 children, and watches 2 additional kids. She gets $200 a week, $800 a month! That is a lot of money!

Unfortunately he may need to take a job outside of his chosen field. Many people are having to do that these days.

As for working at home...go to www.workathome.com/madden to get information on a risk free option.

We need my husband to be home as well, and can't really afford jobs that would require day care. We really wanted something that would give us family time too so he took a job delivering papers at night. If neither of you have benefits, I believe Starbucks has benefits.
