Hi Moms,

My 5.5 year old son is graduating from Pre-K in 1.5 weeks.. He's been with the same kids since he turned 2. Next year the tuition is doubling at his Christian school, so most kids are separating and going to new schools for kindergarten :( :(
Silly, but, he's had the same "girlfriend" for 4 years... Unfortunately, they are moving to GA next month. I want to give her a keepsake gift from my son... I was thinking about blowing up and framing a picture of the 2 of them and having the frame engraved.
What should the frame say:
-First Loves 2009-2012
-First Love
-First Boyfriend
(PS they refer to each other as boyfriend/girlfriend. In an innocent way, of course)

Not sure what to engrave..
Thanks moms!!!!

whew - i love the idea!

But the 'love' and boyfriend stuff makes me....hesitant. It sounds too much like "toddlers and tiaras" - like they were actually dating or something.

I humbly suggest "Best Friends" and maybe the years.

Maybe "puppy love". I think it would be cute to get a couple of blank wooden frames, and make your son one too. Paint hers in her favorite color, his in his, put "puppy love" on top and you could put their names and years at the bottom. you could even do little paw prints around the frame as added decoration. :)

I think I would just do "Love"
Do they call each other boyfriend/girlfriend?
Make sure to put his name and stuff on the back - in years she will forget because they are so young!

I think that would be very nice but I wouldn't phrase it as "first love" or "first boyfriend".

I would put something like best friends or true friends. At 5.5 they really aren't dating. My daughter is close to one of the boys in her class and refers to him as her best buddy. She is also 5.5.

I like the puppy love idea that is cute!!! I think it's a great idea that way they will remember eachother. I know I still remember my first crush when I was that age and wish I had something like that.

I think the whole engraved picture frame idea is over the top. Maybe buy a wooden frame and put a sticker on the back - Joe & Sue, Pre-K, 2009-2012. I'd stay far away from puppy love, first love, boyfriend, etc. Or get a wooden frame from a craft store and have your son paint it. Hate to say it, but with kids moving apart when they're 5 it's going to be difficult to have them stay in touch. I've seen it with my own kids who barely remember their preschool friends.

I'd avoid Anything with Love or Boyfriend.....

Special Friend, Best Buddies, Bookends, Friendship, ...? So many options without "labeling it" love!

What about their names? "Suzy and Max"

Personally, I wouldn't date it, either. Makes me think of a gravestone!

Help them keep in touch--there need not be an "end"!

Cute idea!
