Hey Ladies, I was wondering if anyone has taken the birth control pill yasmin. I just started last month and i should have started me period yesterday but didnt! The pamplet said that you may miss your first period the first month. I have never had that happen with any other birth control pill. I was just wondering if anyone had experienced the same thing. The Dr. gave me these to hopefully help with my moodiness but i dont know if i should go get a pregnancy test to just to be safe or just chalk it up to it being the pills.

What can I do next?

Everyone I know who has used this form of BC has had problems. I've read a lot of research on this particular BC and have learned that it is actually the worst form to use for your body as it really messes with your hormone balance. One of the biggest problems I've heard from it is more moodiness so it is wierd to me that your doc gave this to you to help with that.

If you think your moodiness is attributed to hormone imbalance then you may want to consider progesterone instead of something with estrogen in it. The estrogen is what makes us moody. There is information on this at www.women4balance.com/purity on the estrogen dominance page. There is even a self quiz you can use to see where your hormones stand.

Hi, M.. I am 36 (37 in Sept) and actually pregnant (planned) with our 2nd child. We have a 6 year old son. I took Yasmin for about 4 years until I was 35 and then my doctor changed me to Yaz (Yasmin for those of us over 35). I did really well with both - short periods, very little physical issues and my 'moods' were better as well. I think I had a little breakthru bleeding my first month of Yasmin (Yasmin and Yaz are both very low dose pills) but I didn't skip it. I didn't have any issues at all with Yaz - probably since I was already on a low dose. At this point, I don't think you need to do a pregnancy test unless it would make you feel better in general. Of course, if you are having pregnancy symptoms - beyond skipping the period - then you might want to have one. Otherwise, I would just continue as you are and see what happens on the 2nd month. I had a good experience with both of these pills. I hope you do as well. C.

I started on Yasmin about a year ago for my moodiness and hormones being out of whack after having my son. It is normal to have your period not start on time after switching birth control. The levels in the birth control are different and your body probably hasnt gotten use to them yet.

Hey M.
I am on Yasmin for PMDD. (pms, moodiness...wann pull your hair out..eat chocolate, hate everyone....)
I have been on it for one month and I can already tell a difference. I feel great!!!! I have had some break through bleeding, but no missed period. First thing, is think about how much stress you have been under ( we all know how stress can affect our periods), second have you lost a lot of weight, that will cause you not to have a period, and third, think about when you started the pack...it may not be time yet for your period. If none of those apply then I would suggest getting a test. One of the boxes with an extra test inside, so you can retest after a few days. And call your doctor. :)
