Do You Use Your Dishwasher?

I use my dishwasher, only as a dry rack. I fully handwash all my dishes, and stack them in the washer to dry. I hate, hate, hate running my dishwasher! No matter how L. soap I put in, when the dishes are done, there is residue and soap flakes all over the dishes! I end up having to re-rinse them all by hand anyway... It's not even an old washer, maybe 10 yrs... So do you hand wash and rack them to dry, or rinse and run the dishwasher?

Any Lessons Learned Re: Renting a Jumpy House for a Party?

Hi Mamas! I'm having a house party in a month and want to rent a jumpy house thingy. Any dos or don'ts? I was thinking of not getting one that includes a water portion for muddy mess reasons. Are some jumpy house styles hotter inside than others (since it will be August?) Thanks Mamas!

Earth Friendly Cleaning Products

I am not super "Green", but am trying to do my part. I have decided that as my current cleaning products run out I will be replacing them with more earth (and people) friendly products. My first purchase has turned out to be not so good. I bought Wave dishwasher detergent and was not pleased with the results. A large portion had a haze of detergent that needed to be rinsed off, while others had to be completely washed again. All that extra soap and water really defeats the purpose! I know it is not my dishwasher because I used it...

Food Allergy Meal Ideas

We recently found out that our 6 year old son is allergic to dairy, eggs, peanuts, and chocolate. We have found some substitutions. For peanut butter we use sun butter, we bought rice milk, Ener-G egg replacer, etc. I found a great cookbook that had awesome breakfast and dinner ideas, but the lunch ideas were a little too gourmet for a picky 6 year old. I am having a difficult time with lunch ideas for him since our standards were grilled cheese, pizza, and mac and cheese. I don't want to feed him the same things over and over and have...

Meijer or Kroger

Has anyone compared prices at Meijer and Kroger? I can't tell which one has the lowest prices. It seems to me that maybe groceries are lower at Kroger while produce is lower at Meijer. There is no doubt that deli meats are lower at Meijer. I would rather shop at Kroger as it is less crowded and crazy, but not if I end up spending more. What have you all find to be best?

Opinions on Best/yummiest Pre-made Dinner Rolls for Thanksgiving

Hello All - I have been assigned the easy task of bringing the Thanksgiving dinner rolls this year. I am headed up north and need to buy something ahead of time to take with me because I will not be able to shop on Thanksgiving Day. Bakery rolls without preservatives just won't keep well until then, so I am looking for the best tasting rolls available otherwise - something that doesn't taste like or have the texture of Wonder Bread would be preferable (no offense to those who like that bread though!). Thanks!

Money Saving Tips

Hello Moms, I know many of us have been trying to save money/spend less in the economy the last few years. I am just getting through a health scare. So far the results sound like they will be good for me. But, since this is early in the year, I have not met my deductible with the health insurance so there will definitely be medical bills for us that were unexpected. We also had a home repair and a car repair in January, another home repair this month & some dental work for my daughter that we were initially told would be covered by...

Living on Credit Cards

Financially we are quite a mess, and at odds as to what to do! So please, any advice would be helpful. Our credit score is excellent, we manage to pay things on time, because we keep borrowing from our credit cards. We are over 115,000 in debt, and that does NOT include the large mortgage. We are an average family, we don't make a lot of $, we bought a home too expensive, and had debt going into it, but now it's way worse. We are not upside down, just have more going out then whats coming in. We'd like to keep good credit, because...

Need Help Planning a Benifit Dinner PLEASE

Our God-Daughter was raced to the hospital this summer with both lungs near collapse and major dehydration. Now, the bills have piled up and they are at risk of losing their home. Her mother and I are going to do a benifit dinner on February 28th and we need help. We have a building (for free)and a general plan for the menu, but need help with the specifics. The building will sear 325, and we have it all day. We figured 10 - 6? What kind of things need to be set up, are the times OK, should we go for doantions for a "yard sale", what kind...

Mom of 2 Little Ones Looking for Maintaining the Home Advice!

I am a mom of two beautiful little boys ages 1 and 3. I am home most of the time but do work part-time evenings. I am having trouble just keeping up with day to day duties in the home. I get so overwhelmed with keeping the house clean that it drives me almost to the point of insanity!!! We have soooooo many toys (with many pieces and parts) and just trying to keep everything together and organized is impossible!
