Taking 8 Month Old to the Beach...

We are going to the beach this weekend. I'm not too sure on how to handle my little one and the beach though. I know she'll want to play in the water a little, but it's salt water... And it's not fair to her or me to hold her the whole time; she'll want to get down and crawl and explore. I'm already planning on taking her pack n play and a gallon jub of water to wash her off. But do y'all have any other suggestions on what I can do to make her first trip to the beach a memorable one? (you know what I mean) I don't want her to have to be...

I Need Something to Shade My 6 Month Old from the Sun While Outside.

I may be asking a really dumb question. Is there something already made (that I haven't found) to shade my daughter from the sun while I'm outside? We are in a new housing development and do not have any mature trees to shade her. I have a pack-n-play. Do I rig an umbrella to it? She is not sitting up unsupported yet but will be soon. The other day we had a hat on her, sunglasses, and sunblock then tried to use the umbrella from our patio table to shade her while she sat in her exersaucer. It worked okay, but I'm looking for something...
