What Do You Really Need for an Infant?

So it's been 8 years since I last had a baby to care for. I am expecting again and am at a loss for what I really need and trying to prioritize. I have looked at many registries and think they include a lot of frivolous items (wipe warmers ect) So if you could go back in time and know then what you know now, what are your must have items. When I say I have nothing I mean not one baby item at all. I know I'll need a crib, clothes, ect. I also plan on breastfeeding, so I will need a pump for when I return to work and there are so many to...

Infant Car Seat-No Bottom Buckle???

My brother in law and his wife just had a baby. They went to their local fire departmetn to have them install the infant car seat right before the baby was born. The baby is here and is about 6 lbs 8 oz now. They say that the fireman told them that they can swaddle the baby in a blanket and put him in the infant seat WITHOUT his arms being through the straps ans simply buckle the chest buckle They leave the bottom "seatbelt" buckle undone. Most Useful New Infant Item You had...please share...especially Preemie Parents

So my SIL gave birth VERY early last week..at 30.5 weeks gestation. My niece weighed in at 2 lbs, 1 oz. She has done miraculously..no vent the whole time, no emergencies and while she has not gained any weight yet, she is maintaining her birth weight at this point. She looks wonderful...even a full head of hair! I thought fat and hair grew last?? She is a tiny little spectacular miracle! She will be needing some selections of preemie clothes, and other such things. But I am wondering what were the most useful things you had for Preemies...
