Best tub I've ever used with my three children: THE KITCHEN SINK! by far, the best! right height, roomie, all the things you need at a nice handy height for you, etc., etc.

They have seats almost like a booster that you put in the tub and it keeps them from slipping etc. My daughter is big as well (9 mo. old) and has been using it since she was about 4 or 5 months - at least when she started sitting with support. Good Luck.

When my son was too big for his infant tub, we found a blow up regular tub insert. It's a large yellow duck and has sides that are blown up and it sits perfectly in the regular tub but you fill it seperately. That worked until he was able to sit up completely on his own and be stable. I think we found it at Target and it was pretty inexpensive.

I bought the Primo Eurobath for my big girl when she outgrew her baby bath, and she can still play happily in it at 13 months old. http://www.amazon.com/Primo-340W-PRIMO-EuroBath-Pearl/dp/...

At 6 months I believe we just used our regular bath tub for our daughter. We made sure to use a ruber liner that sticks to the tub to prevent her from sliding all over the place. Don't buy another baby tub, it will be a waste of money, she will outgrow it soon.
Good Luck

I just use a towel on the bottom of the tub for my baby to sit on. He outgrew his tub when he was 5 months old. There are also some kind of seat that has suction cups on the bottom that you can suction to your tub and have them sit in there. You can find them at Walmart or at a Consignment store. I wouldn't go and buy another tub because your daughter would only be in it another month. Or, you could just bathe her in your kitchen sink. I've done that a few times.

I was gonna say too just use the kitchen sink. Why invest in another baby tub when she will soon out grow that age wise anyway. You can get small rubber sink pad to put at the bottom so she doesnt slip.

When my kids outgrew the infant tub, they were sitting up on their own for the most part. I transfered them to the big tub, but as a precaution, I sat in there with them until I was comfortable enough with them being in there on their "own". Being in the tub with them allowed me to have better control of them than being outside the tub. That and it was easier on my back and legs.

my son is 12mo and 30"long...so we outgrew our baby tub...and we bought another one from BabiesRUS called PRIMO..its a larger version on the little one that you can turn as your child gets larger...it fits inside a regular tub. We have been very happy with this.

The duck just seemed roomier and it was inflated so he could kick lunge backwards and wouldnt get hurt on hard plastic. I thick it was 10$.

Like Kim N I have to recommend the Eurobath!!

We have this for our son, and it's wonderful! He is a VERY long baby, but at 6 months still fits into the infant side. There is also a larger side for 6 months and up.

This is a wonderful tub--very large.

Hi M.,

I just recently posted this same question, and I was given the suggestion to purchase

http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2969577

Granted, I noticed a couple moms responded with some "free" alternatives, but if you wanted to invest in something sturdy, I really recommend the TubSide Bath Seat.

Good luck!

Kudos to the person who suggested the Primo Eurobath!! The people who have been talking about the kitchen sink probably have "normal" sized babies ~ I say that lovingly, being a mom to an 18 pound 4 month old who is jam-packed in the sink to the point of it being a safety hazard.

The Eurobath is awesome, I used it with my almost 3 year old until November of this year (and she's pretty big/tall at 34 pounds and wearing size 3T clothes). It fits right in your tub and makes life so much easier. I am ready to break mine out again to make bathtime more enjoyable for my "little" man :)

Another great (and cheap) tub that I used up until my daughter was two was the Duck tub from Target (http://www.target.com/Munchkin-Duck-Bathtub/dp/B000066665... ). The only "problem" with it is that you need to support your little girl since she's probably not a secure sitter just yet (whereas the Eurotub can be used by an infant or a toddler, with built in supports at opposite ends depending on your child's stability). It's darn cute, too :)

Good luck, and don't feel badly about your precious little Michelin gal outgrowing the sink so early ~ as I always like to brag, "Big body, big brain."

Hi, My 8 month old son was/is a big baby as well. I find that an inflatable tub (I bought mine at Babies r' us) is great. After blowing it up, it fits perfectly in the regular tub. He loves it, almost as much as my back does! It is recommended that the baby is able to sit independently. With that being said, my son was almost there when we started using it at about 6 mo. and did well. Good luck.

Hello!
If she is sitting up pretty well, I suggest using a rectangular laundry basket in the bathtub. the holes in the basket let the water in and you can get one of those "teddy bear" sponges in the baby section at the store and put in the bottom of the basket. It is also great to keep her baby toys right by her within her reach! I used this for both of my children and it worked out great!! Of course you would always stay right by her side, as long as you don't fill the tub up to high, there is no problem with the basket tipping over either. Also, very practical - inexpensive and when she would be out of it, you can use it for other things! I hope this helps!!
good luck!

We had the inflatable "duck" from Target. I've also seen it online. It is a large inflatable bath that you can keep in the actual tub or on the bathroom floor. We did get a lot of use out of it and its great for that age! I don't even know who makes it, but I'm sure if you did a search online, it'd be easy to find!

I never used an infant tub or a tub seat. I always got in the tub with my babes or when they can sit well by themselves I sit on the outside if I don't feel like a bath myself.

PS my son is a big baby too. 20 1/2 pounds at 6 months and long too! My daughter was tiny so I bathed her in the kitchen sink for a while!

I forgot to add that when they weren't sitting I sometimes used this too: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2401509

We have the Safety First Tub Seat. My sons both used it from 4 months on. They both grew out of it at about 11-12 months, when they started really moving around and exploring. Check it out here:

If you are interested I am going to put ours on craigslist. (not sure if you ever get up to RI) We found it at Babiesrus.

We used the kitchen sink and it works well. I know folks that put a towel down in the regular tub and then puts baby on that and it helps to keep the baby in place. I find that the sink is at a better height and easier to manage.

Here's number three suggesting the kitchen sink! Another option is to bathe with her in the big tub. You might not want to do that every night, but once or twice a week, it's fun! After all, as soon as she's sitting securely, she'll be getting her baths in the big tub -- and that's going to be a matter of a very few weeks now. Why waste the money on a special tub?

Hi M. -

I don't know the exact name - but there is a bath seat that sits in your tub and hooks onto the outside of the tub. My friend has it and she uses it for her baby and toddler.

I also have a big baby girl and once she was old enough to hold her own head up, I took her out of the infant tub and started using the ring that suctions to the bottom of the tub. She loves it because she can splash and play and not be confined to her own little tub. It also is helping get her ready for the swimming pool this summer!

for both of my kids I used a "bath seat" that you put inside your tub. It kinda hooks to the side and you place the infant in the seat. That way you don't have to worry about the baby being unsafe in the tub, although your baby still isn't ready to be left alone. They like it, too, since they get to sit up and play. The seats are fairly inexpensive, as I reacall. Good luck.

Hi M.,

My daughter out grew her tub and then the next was a shower. So I purchased a big plastic bin to sit on the bottom of the shower and filled it to the apropriate level of water. This worked for a long time. We did take an acasional shower but they like and need the play time in a bath. I also had a bath chair if I remember coreclty. That was great for the begining trials of an open space. I am sure they must still make them.

Good luck and enjoy!

After reading other responses I remembered that my daughter was in the plastic tub I bought with a cover for about three years and now it holds her baby keep sakes.

We use a small inflatable tub that fits snugly into the tub. We also cut a pool noodle (one of those foamy ones that we got at walmart around pool season) to fit into the tub so that his ears wouldn't go into the water when I had him laying down, so we used this tub before he could sit. He is one year old now and we still use it. I also like that I don't need to use a lot of water, compared to having to fill up the tub. Another friend said that she used her inflatable tub in the summer as a pool when her son was older.

Hi M.. I see you already have a bunch of replies--but maybe one more will help? :)
I've had both my kids in those big tupperware/rubbermaid type tubs for year. We have a big jacuzzi style tub and I can't bear to fill it for their baths every time, so around the age of your daughter (as soon as they coudl sit up on their own comfortably), we started them in their own little tubs, side by side. They love it! They're like those standard-size storage bins that you might store clothing in the attic in (minus the lids, obviously), and they are super durable, cost about 7 bucks or so, and even my 4.5 year old is still totally comfortable in his. Good luck--have fun with the little one! --A.

Hi we have found a tub that works well for us. It's from IKEA and it's perfect sized for my 18 month old (my 4 y.o. even took a tub in it last night). I know there is an IKEA store in MA- stoughton i think. I would call first because they don't always carry the same products in every store. you can shop online too but i bet the shipping would be crazy....good luck
