My Baby Going to Funeral of an Infant???

We need help here. On Wednesday night my SIL who was carrying twins lost the baby boy. She was induced Thursday and the baby girl is doing well. There will be a funeral for the baby boy. I feel like my 32 month old son should not attend the funeral since he didn't know this baby and there are a lot of emotions involved. When the entire family was together Thursday we were all sobbing. My son doesn't know what was going on and my father was watching him at home. I know the funeral will be the same way. With the death of an infant I feel like...

Is Your Kid a Bully?

It seems like everyone thinks there kid(s) are not bullies. I know we'd all like to believe we all have raised children that would never bully another child. But, logically, clearly, some people have. Someone HAS to be the bully. How do you know for sure if your child is or is not a bully? Can we ever be sure? Catwalk--I think that qualifies him for "hero", not "bully"! And I think we all know that "assertive" does not equal "bully".

Grounding a Child from Church

If a child misbehaves, would you consider grounding them from church? I don't have children yet, but I remember being grounded from church once when I was a teenager. As a Christian woman, I am against grounding children from church. I feel that it sends the message that God isn't where to turn to in times of trouble. When I was a kid, I didn't like going to church. I went because my mom made me go. I realized how important church was when I was in my late teens and as I became an adult. When I have children, they will go to church...

Disrespectful Mother in Law

So I have one of the most disrespectful controlling mother in laws in the world and this November I will be dealing with her for 5 years. AHHHH sometimes I just want to pull my hair out. I've tried listening to her concerns and asking her questions when it comes to my 3 children aged 3 1/2, 2 1/2, & 5 months to no avail. She believes just because her 3 kids are raised that she knows everything. She won't say anything to me but makes snide comments to others like "she's starving B, i wish she'd just give him formula because he's so small and...

Baby Cover for Infant Carrier?

I'm looking for a warm cover to fit over a infant front carrier and hopefully, the baby while in the stroller. Any suggestions for a reasonably priced one that works well? Thanks for all the suggestions about a car seat cover... I'm really looking for one that fits over a baby bjorn, though. :-) The ones that I've seen on the market just don't seem warm enough for winter... Thanks.

Legal Age for Babysitting

I am a single Mom. Recently my babysitter moved out of my house. My problem is that...I work full time. I have tried to look up the legal age of siblings babysitting. NO LUCK! My son is 15 and I'm sure he can be left alone. But my daughter has special needs. She is not severally disabled but she does fall under the disable qualification. So I was wandering if I can legally leave my son to babysit my 12 yr old daughter. 9 is the latetest I work...And my son is pretty mature. He has babysat but only for short periods during the day. Any...

Am I Doing My Kids a Disservice by Not Having a Social Life?

I guess my question is am I setting an antisocial example for them? I have moved 3 times in the past 9 years, all different states. I can rarely make friends and my husband and I have never used a babysitter so we don't get alone time unless family is visiting. But now that my daughter is in school I feel a little awkward about not having a social circle. I had one friend in the last place we lived and our families got along great but we usually just got together for playdates. Now we are in another state and I am overwhelmed with...

Is This a Tantrum?

Recently, my 16 month old son has started crying much more frequently than he used to. It used to be that if he wanted something and we took it away, he'd cry but then stop soon if we held him, distracted him, etc. Now, if he wants something and can't get it, he puts both of his little hands to his mouth and cries pitifully!! I always thought tantrums were angry crying, kicking, screaming, etc. but this is just plain sad crying!! It breaks my heart and I'm tearing up even remembering how he looked as I write this. I try to hold him and...
