Okay...so I have another name that I'd like to get some opinions on...Victoria Belle. I'm worried that she might be teased by other children by saying victory bell, but Belle was my great, great-grandmother's name. If you don't like Belle or Victoria, please give me some other suggestions. My 18-month old daughter's name is Caroline Rose, so I'd like to stay along those lines. I don't want anything extremely popular...I asked advice on Abigal but everyone said that it's really popular, so I ruled that out. I like Lauren and Emily, but I know that they are very popular as well. Also, my husband's family is extremely large so I can't use Olivia, Rebecca, Katherine, Lillian, Ella, Viven, Nicole, or Natalie.
I'd appreciate any and all help!!
Thanks so much!
C.
Thank you all so much for the advice. My little girl came into the world on Friday March 28th at 7:40am...and we named her Catherine Grace. Catherine was my husband's great-grandmother's name and we loved the fact that it isn't as popular as some of the others we liked. Plus, we love the fact that it has a special meaning seeing that it is from a family member who was very dear to everyone's hearts. It's very strange because she even seems to have great-grandmother's coloring, as far as dark hair and green eyes. Thanks for everyone's advice!!

What about Lily Belle. I love the name Lily and hope someday one of my children will name their daughter Lily. I do like the idea of sharing the same middle name. I think that is a great idea. Also if you want to stay away from very popluar names, Isabella is at the top of the list. My niece just named her baby girl Isabella Morgan so I was looking that up and there it was at the top. But if you want Victoria Belle I say go for it. -T.

Sounds like you are going with old-fashioned names which is great. I love the name Georgia. Georgia Belle would be cute. Victoria Belle is also cute. A kid will get teased no matter what these days. If all they can find to tease her about is her name then you're going to be fine. My girls are Allanna Gabrielle and Adrianna Marie. (Pronounced Aunna not Anna)

Hi C.,
I also picked my husband's great-grandmother's name as my daughter's middle name, why we didn't use it as her first name is a mystery to me now, anyway,it's Ola.I love that name and I think Ola Belle would be good. Also Lilli Belle sounds great to me.By the way,my daughter's first name is Emily because we couldn't decide between Emma and Lilli, now we call her Emma anyway.Good luck,E.

The name Victoria Belle is absolutely beautiful. I love to name my children uncommon names as well and I know if I were to run into someone on the street that told me that name for their child I would find it beautiful. Being that we are about to have our 3rd girl I know how challenging picking out names can be. Good luck.
OH yeah, Also I am a school teacher and unless your child is around a lot of very intellectual children, I do not believe your child will be teased. I work with 5th and 6th graders and I don't think they could come up with Victory Bell as a tease, it would require them to think too much about what they should be studying.

Hey,
The name that you chose was nice. I don't think that people will make fun of it. My grandmothers name was Dimple and if God blesses me with a little girl I am going to name her Dimple Rose. So maybe no one will make fun of that name either. Good Luck and GOd Bless.

If Victoria Belle is a chosen name check to see what they mean because there is meaning in our names and if they have meaning you would want to give to your child for a life time then I would not worry about children teasing because children will find something to tease about if they want to. I also Like Lily Ann. God Bless your efforts to find just the perfect name for the blessing He has sent to you.

I think Victoria Belle is a beautiful name & goes well with her sister's name. I wouldn't pick anything easy to tease about but there's always some way to tease for kids. They can be so mean....it's a wonder any of us survive childhood. I don't think she would be teased much but you never know. I was going to suggest Sophia(my daughter's name)as a classic you might consider as you didn't say it couldn't be used in your husband's large family. Good luck in your choice. You will make a good decision.

I absolutely ADORE Victoria Belle. I am a HUGE fan of the names Belle or Bella. I named my daughter Zoe Arabella and we call her Zoe Belle or Bella. I think this name is great. I really dont think she will be teased, to be honest most kids in her classes won't know her middle name is Belle and really I dont think many of them would think of Victory Bell either. I think you have picked out a beautiful name.

I'm all about unusual names for kids, my daughter's name is November (for my father who was born and died in that month) Delaune (my grandmother's maiden name - a tradition in the south). She has known almost from the time she could talk who she was named for and why she has that name. It is very special to her and has even allowed her a unique nickname - Novie (formerly Nova but it was changed in daycare). Yes she has been teased but responds with how special her name is and the kids teasing her usually back off. Unfortunately no matter what name the child has kids can be mean and will find a way to tease if they choose to. Just teach the child regardless of her name that she is special and loved and talk about the reasons behind why kids tease (jealousy, hurt, envy, neglect) and she'll be fine. Novie has taken it a step further and attempts to befriend the kids that tease her - it has worked almost every time.

What about Victoria Isabella or vice versa? I wanted to name my daughter Agnes (my mother's name) Isabella and call her Belle or Bella. We ended up with Kenadie (Kennedy) Agnes. Also, what about a Kate Alexadra or Isabella Kate; Avallon Marie (my choice if we have another child and it's a girl) or Sophie Rose - that way both girls have the same middle name. What are some family names (your mom; your husbands mom; grandmothers, etc) that you could incorporate into some of your names that could be carried down with your daughters. A few others for thought: Emma Grace; Hannah Grace; McKenna or Victoria Alise. Like you, I wanted a name that was not everyday and there wouldn't be 4 of them in her class.

Hi C.,
Why not try Isabella Rose, that way your girls share a common bond middle name. My sisters and I all have the same middle name.My Nana told us that no matter how we abbreviate or nickname our first names, or how many times we change our last names with marriage, our middle names would be something that we would all share in common and left pretty much untouched. Just a thought. Let me know what you think.- God Bless, C. Garner

I think Victoria Belle is beautiful (in fact, Victoria is our top choice if we ever have a girl); and while it's fine to think about kids teasing other kids, the plain truth is you can't stop it--and if it's not about the name it'll be something else. Some kids are just mean, and will find something cruel to say. But I think that middle names are generally not known, so it wouldn't be a very big deal anyway.

i think that's pretty. i really like Belle and would probably use that as a first name since its in the family, and i don't like names that can be shortened, and i'd be afraid people would eventually shorten Victoria to Vicky. I know its hard esp. with the 2nd and 3rd child, trying to make them sound like siblings, lol. Good luck. I know Grace is popular, but how about Bella Grace? My daughter is Ella Marie which are both family names. hope this helps a little...but also, just do what you and your husband like, you're not going to be able to please ALL your friends and family. Anna and Hannah are old fashioned..okay, sorry for rambling....oh and i see someone suggested Sadie, which we really loved...UNTIL...we realized the 2 words in the name are "SAD" and "DIE"

Do you want to use a single name or a double name for your daughter? I would be concerned about naming her "Victoria Belle" because it could sound so much like "Victorian Belle." But I do like the name "Victoria." Name her Victoria Belle and just use the first name in everyday conversation. Or, if
you want to just call her by one name, her legal name could be Belle Victoria - then call her by her middle name, Victoria. I do like "Emily Belle" as a double name. It has a nice old-fashioned(Southern)ring to it.

Hi,
Victoria Belle is a pretty name. I can understand you concern but personally think you shouldn't worry about the whole teasing issue. More than likely its going to be more of a nickname thing. Your 18 month old could end up with a nickname as well. It really comes down to you and your husband deciding what you really like and just going with it. You can't control what might or might not happen when she gets older. Sorry thats just my opinion.

I feel very strongly that you should name your child what you want, and not listen to other people. I taught school before my son was born 30+ years ago and know that names go in cycles. You should not worry about what other people or children say, because they will say what they want and you can explain to your child what the name means to you. My grandchild's name is Kendall which is not common, but it is a beautiful name to me. So, please name your child what you and your husband agree to and tell the rest of the world to go fly a kite. I wish you the best and pray that it is an easy and wonderful delivery and experience for both of you. If you would like to email me back feel free to, if not I will understand. Good luck to you and your family. As ever, Susan

I wanted to name my 2nd child if he had been a girl, Heather Kathleen. I have always loved that name. I am really big on family names though too. If you have a grandmother or great grandmother you want to honor, now is the time to do it. Even some last names can be beautiful first names.
Both of my children are named after grandparents in 1 way or another.
My family wouldnt let me use my great grandmothers though. Her name was Queenie Ray. I love it but I do see where the teasing would come in to play with todays kids. But it is still a lovely old name.
Congratulations on your baby girl. I wish you all the joy they bring. Treasure her. No matter what you name her.

I don't think there is anything wrong with Victoria Belle. By the time she is old enough to worry about other children teasing her about any kind of name, she will probably be old enough to choose whether or to use her full name at school and such. I named my first daughter Anastacia Michelle, and at the age of 4, she named her baby sister Brianna Nicole! I think it is great when you are able to honor members of your family by using their names for your children. I have two nieces, Audrey Lenore and Mattie Lee. Mattie Lee was named after our mother and our grandmother. When it is all said and done...she is your baby girl and as long as you and your husband(or whatever your situation is) are happy with the name you choose, and you don't offend any of your family memebers in the process, I don't think it is really anyone else's concern about what you name your child. I hope that didn't sound rude...sometimes I come across that way unintentionally! I think you know what I mean though. It is your daughter and it is the name she will have for life...I am certain you will find the perfect name!!Just go with your heart and you can't go wrong!

C., I think that if you like that name and it's a family name then there is no reason not to name you daughter that. I don't think that other children will tease her because of it, but if they do you should know that no matter what her name is, there are some children that are always going to tease others no matter what. These type of kids will find anything to tease about so you shouldn't take that into consideration when you're naming your child. It is a beautiful name and I'm sure that she will love it. And it's also not a popular name so that should satisfy you too.
Hope I could help.
