I just had our 3 rd baby by c section(3rd section) on Oct 19th. Everything went well, no complications. I stopped bleeding after a week. Well just an hour ago I realized that I started bleeding again, not soaking a towel or anything like that, but like a period. I have not had this happen before, so not sure what to do. Doctors office is not open till monday, can I wait..... should I go to ER????Just not sure. Did anybody have similar experience??? thank u in advance:)

What can I do next?

Agreed. With my first C/S it was normal bleeding that slowly stopped. With the second it was on and off for a longer period of time. Nothing came of it. Unless if is really heavy, I wouldnt worry.

I was also told, if I was bleeding through more then one pad an hour. My bleeding was off and on. I would bleed a few days, stop a few days, bleed a few...etc. I never bled through a bad in an hour, so I never called. If you feel uncomfortable with it, go ahead and call.

Congrats! I had my 3rd this year too & had a similar situation. It's not uncommon to have a break & then resume bleeding. If you are going through more than one pad an hour, then call your dr's office as I am sure they will have someone on call, since you could get anemic. Since you just delievered, if you are still nervous, call your dr's office, I am sure they would rather you call then to be worried.

Your doctors office will have an option for "emergencies' if you call - an answering service or an on call doctor. You should call them. They take calls over the weekend - women go into labor on weekends all the time, and they do not need to wait til monday! Neither do you.

I bled for 6 entire weeks after my c-section - much worse than my vaginal deliveries. They told me as long as it wasn't soaking a pad an hour, it was normal.

Your OB/GYN should have an after hours number. You could call that, explain the situation. They should be able to guide you in the best direction.

SAME problem. It probably means you are doing too much walking, lifting and/or stair climbing. With my first, I stopped bleeding within a week. With my second, I'd almost stopped by the time I left the hospital, then got home to my 2-story house and I started heavy. It tapered off, then came back again for weeks. It was because I was not taking it easy enough.

It is hard, but give yourself time to heal. Congrats!

I also have to agree with everyone, I had 2 sections! And was told the samething as them! If you are not having any of these symptoms them I would wait for your Dr's office to open tomorrow. If not then call the after hrs number or go to the ER. Good luck! Has any of this happened with any of your other CS?

I bled off and on for weeks after my c-section. As the other mamas have written, if you are bleeding through a pad an hour then you need to go into ER. If you're worried, I would go in, or at least call the triage at the hospital.

Good luck and congratulations on the birth of your 3rd child!

you've already received several responses to this effect, but I'm four weeks postpartum CS with my third as well and I was told to expect bleeding for four to six weeks, tho it may be lighter than with a vag del as they get alot out at the time of surgery. I would suggest if you're still unsure to contact ur afterhours OB phone # and speak with the on call OB. They'll be able to reassure or redirect you. The repeated mantra I was given was,"Call us if at any time in the next six weeks you soak a pad front to back completely in an hour, or pass a clot the size of a grapefruit. Otherwise all bleeding (or not) is normal."

As an aside, I will have days when it's light, goes brown, gets really heavy, then disappears completely for days, and comes back suddenly.

Good luck!
