Please go to the ER NOW. If there is any of the placenta left you can bleed out. This is not normal for you so there is a problem. I can not stress enough how important it is for you to be seen asap!! Please post update and let us know how you are doing.....

Please go to the ER if you haven't already -- there are so many things that could be causing this kind of bleeding.

You can not get an IUD inserted while you are bleeding. Call your doctor. I have had 3 IUD's put in and each one I had to wait until after my cycle

I would call the dr, I do not think you can have the IUD put in if you are currently bleeding. From what I remember the heavy bleeding should have stopped by now, but I would check with your doc before going in the purpose of the visit may need to be changed.

I would have called my doctor, said it was urgent, and asked him (or his responding associate) if this is something that needs immediate attention. Then he could assure you that if you went to the hospital, he/she would know about it and be able to assist them with info or advice. (This includes calling them at night or weekends!)

If you feel a little iffy about going to the ER if you are not sure if its nessecery (i know its an expensive visit) you can call the ER and ask to speak to a nurse. She should be able to answer you question, not just about this but anything about your new baby when its outside your normal doctors hours

Any time you are soaking thru a pad in an hour it is time to see a dr. You are losing too much blood at that point for your body to keep up. Go see the Dr right away
Good Luck

Did you have a cesection? With my ceserian I went through a problem like this. At first I bled for 2 weeks and it stopped. All of a sudden it was soo much blood! I thought I was peeing blood. I was about to go to the ER. After a day the blood flow slacked off but I continued to bleed almost up until my 6 week checkup. But that was my situation. YOur may or may not be different. Its best to be safe than sorry. Call the doc, nurse or the ER asap

CONGRATS on your baby boy!!!

if you go through a pad an hour - saturated -you NEED to go to the ER - that is NOT normal.

if you feel lightheaded - you've lost too much blood. I wouldn't wait until Thursday if you are saturating one pad an hour. GO NOW>

I hope you already called and got in to your OB or went to the ER this doesn't seem normal at all, dripping blood is not a normal thing gushing right after delivery is but not this long after. PS IUD's cause heavy bleeding and cramping so you might want to think about using that method of Birth control (just my opinion) I had them in the past and they messed me up it took years for everything to get back to normal. Good Luck and please update and let us know how you are.

Saturating a pad an hour is not normal. You need to be seen immediately. No way they are putting in an IUD with bleeding and cramping like that, so forget about that doctor's appointment. See your gyn right now or tell them to call ahead to the ER. 7 weeks post partum is too early to know for sure that you are having a regular period anyway - but this is not a period. You could even have some bit of placenta left inside, or for some other reason the bleeding hasn't stopped. If clots are forming, that can cause a lot of cramping, but so can the uterus's efforts to rid your body of what's in there. Get seen now.

GET to an ER woman... it can take up to 9 weeks to heal down there and if you had a c-section you can very likely retear internally at the cut point. It can feel like a period but could also be a slow bleed out...

I urge you to call your doctor and ask about this now. That seems like way too much blood loss. I will say that when I was in my early 20's I frequently had heavy periods during which I had to change my pad every hour. One time the blood ran down my leg while I was walking after having just put in a new pad. Dr. said this was normal for me. But since you haven't had this happen before, I'd definitely call the doctor. I might even call the ER advice nurse tonight. It's most likely OK but it would ease your mind to know that.
