Air Kissing

Totally random, I know, but do you air kiss? I see it a lot on tv, of course, but I don't know anyone who actually does it in "real life" and if someone went in for an air kiss with me I would probably instinctively move away.

What can I do next?

My whole family does, as do all of our friends and relatives. For us its cultural. Its just the way we greet everyone when we see them.

My adult daughter and I often air kiss. She gets ready for a night out and is full of lip gloss, which sticks to your face like honey, so we air kiss before she goes out.

As well, I just had surgery and I don't trust people near me, so I air kiss them. My sister made a comment that I didn't want them kissing me, jokingly.

My MIL does it with me. She's pretty nasty to me most of the time, so I just figure she doesn't want to touch me. And no, I am not dirty.

I like hugs.

We air kiss all of my husband's side of the family and friends. I think it's a cultural thing. His family and our friends are all Mexican and that's just the way everyone greets everyone. Kisses for men and women. For the first year or two I was totally uncomfortable with it and would move the wrong way resulting in many uncomforable kissing moments, but I have figured it out! lol

I don't do it generally, but have friends who do. It IS a cultural thing. It IS also a makeup thing. I think the people who've commented that it looks snobby are probably seeing people like on those Housewives of (wherever) shows. They air kiss. My best reasoning would say that they don't want to smudge their makeup. It's just that they happen to be snobs also that makes us connect the two things. I don't think it's snobby at all (at least not where I've seen it). My great aunt is old and LOVES to dote and love on everyone. The stereotypical old southern lady....she is "demonstrative" in everything she does, and is sincerely just amazingly sweet. But she will grab my shoulders, pull me in tight, and air kiss my cheeks. She wears lipstick though, and I'm glad she's not rubbing that stuff on me. Since I don't wear lipstick (or rarely any makeup at all), I don't care as much. I'm more into hugging people though. I only kiss people that I am very close with (mom, grandparents, husband, children, 2 friends).

my girlfriends and I do, we tend to spend time doing our make up and we air kiss so we do not mess our make up when we see eachother but we do not do it to be snobby we just do not want to mess up our make up first thing.

I wouldn't really call it air-kissing, but my MIL and I kind of press our cheeks together while making the kiss sound. Mostly because she wears lipstick and I always have lip gloss on.
