There is a fantasic childrens museum very close to the riverwalk. It's 3 levels of things geared toward toddlers and young children. You can spend almost all day there, and it's very affordably priced.
My husband and I are thinking about taking our daughter to Sea World for her 4th birthday in April. I have done some research but am not getting everything I was hoping. Does anyone have any info or suggestions to offer? Such as what all does the Sea World admission consist of? Any hotel suggestions? Any ideas besides Sea World and the Riverwalk? Thanks in advance!!!!!
Thanks everyone for soo much advice. We are planning everything this week. I know it will be so much and she will love it

I love taking y kids to sea world! 4 yrs old is the perfect age too! On your drive in take time to stop at the Natural Bridge Wild Life reserve. There is the drive through safari and a petting zoo included in their admission. It is right before you get into San Antonio so it's a nice break before the boredom of checking in & getting unpacked.
As far as hotels go, I always recommend the Embassy Suites because they are a chain hotel and there are no surprises! Because they are all corporate owned you know you are getting quality. The free breakfast bar is perfect, eggs, pancakes- all made to order. Also, because hey are all suites I found that my kids get less stir crazy. They have room to run around & it is great for bed time too!
Admission covers all the rides & shows. You pay extra for parking, food and the food that they have for you to give the dolphins, birds, and seals.
I've been about 10 times in the past few years so we have it down to a routine! Have fun!! Check out the San Antonio visitors & convention bueau for coupons & special offers too!

she will love it. while you are at sea world you can buy sardines to feed the dolphins and the sea lions...it is a blast...also of course you can see shamu.
another thing to do is you can go downtown by the alamo and take a horse carriage ride around the streets...the prices differ depending on how long you want to ride...when we went a couple of years ago it was like$25 for a 15 minute tour...the kids loved it.
We went to Sea World when my daughter was almost 4 and I was pregnant with my second as well. We had a great time. I don't think the water park section will be open yet in April, but they have a great splash water area that my daughter LOVED. Be sure to take a change or two of clothes because she is likely to get very wet if she loves the water. You won;t be able to ride anything because you are pregnant, but they have several rides for her age that she can ride with your husband. Food in the park is very expensive. The best deal I found (and without the long lines) was the little bakery to the left when you first go in. We saw the Believe show with Shamu and loved it. The show with the Beluga whales was great as well. A two day ticket is not that much more expensive and would give you plenty of time to see everything. We stayed at the Motel 6 less than a mile from the entrance and it was somewhere around a $100 a night. We did the Alamo and the Riverwalk as well. On the way back to the metroplex, we stopped at Wonderworld and did some shopping at the outlet malls. I think it was the San Marcos outlet mall that had several kid's stores with really cheap clothing. We are going to Rockport in March, and I hope to stop by the outlet mall on the way down. You will have a blast at Seaworld!
Hi! My name is G. and I've been taking my son to Sea World and Fiesta Texas Since he was nine months old,he's nineteen now,and still loves it!
Send for the San Antonio Vacation Book online,it has lots of hotel info and coupons. The closer you stay to the park the more you'll pay for the accommodations.
The ticket price includes admission to park and all the shows and the water park that's located inside the park.Although we haven't used it in awhile their is a whole section for little kids in the park and water park.

In New Braunfels, which is on the way to San Antonio, there is the Natural Bridge drive through wildlife safari. They give you one free bag of food to feed the animals from your window. My son loved it at that age.
San Antonio has a great zoo. It is not as updated as the Fort Worth Zoo, but you are closer to some of the animals.
Boat tours of the Riverwalk are fun. Be sure and see the Seamore and Clyde show (sea lion, walrus and otter). Your 4 year old will love it. On the way back, the Natural Bridge Caverns is fun. Not sure about for a 4 year old. However, in the same area, there is a mining activity for kids. You can buy bags of sand/rock and they sift thru it in a trough of water for different rocks. There is usually some fools gold in them. My kids loved it. The market is fun to visit for souvenirs. Have a great time!!
We went to Sea World last year and had a great time. If you order your tickets on-line, you get a discount and can purchase two day tickets for only about $5 more than a 1 day ticket. There are plenty of things to do for two days worth without repeating, and also a full water park that could be a day all by itself. The park and water park are all included in the price of admission. Also, if you purchase the 2 day ticket and do not go the second day, you can use the tickets anytime in the year. The two day ticket does not have to be consecutive days. You can bring your own food and drinks in, but no straws or anything the animals could choke on. We had dinner with Shamu with front row seats and it was amazing, and a pretty good buffet. Enjoy!
