Any Other Mamas Dealt with Recurrent Fevers in Your Baby??

Twin grandsons had this for sometime which caused the febrile seizures and it was a vicious cycle for quite some time but then they saw an allergist who gave something to boost the immune system and it all stopped. They're fine now and no more fevers, seizures and gaining weight all the time. Doctors don't seem too concerned these days about the very high temps but when it gets to 105 it scares me to death. Maybe have the immune system checked.

One of my twins was/is very medically complex (in addition to prematurity). She is 15 YEARS old now...but early on...and for the first few years we had similar issues. One of the causes early on was recurrent 'micro' aspirations. She was (at the time) tube fed (ng)...but the feeling was that perhaps there were small (micro) amounts of food getting into her lungs. We switched to a dairy free formula (as the feeling was dairy might be an issue)...

She had TONS of other issues that over time were considered and dealt with...but initially...those were the main culprits.

My son had high fever (104-107 tympanically) every 30-35 days from 13 months to 24 months of age. He would run a fever for about 3 days each time and then it would just suddenly disappear. Sometimes he'd develop a rash on his belly and back, sometimes nothing but a runny nose. My husband and I spent many nights up sponge bathing him and giving motrin/tylenol. On his 2nd birthday his temp was the highest ever at 107 so we took him again to the Dr. They ran lots of tests and considered hospitalizing him, but that night he had bloody diarreah for 2 hours and then never had a recurrence of the fever again. He's 3 1/2 yrs old now and doing great. During those 12 months of recurrent fever, he did not gain weight well and remained in the 10th percentile for weight. Now he's in the 25th percentile for weight and has a healthy immune system. Hope this helps encourage you during this very difficult time. I'm happy to hear that leukemia is not a concern. Oh Mama, I feel for you. The few times that my son has gotten a really high fever were terrifying for me. I don't have much to offer except that a friend and coworker of mine told me that her youngest son would have constant fevers when he was very young. It drove the parents insane and they were having him evaluated at different hospitals, there was concern that something was seriously wrong with him. He was eventually diagnosed with a "fever disorder," and basically his prognosis was that he'd outgrow it and be fine. And he did. I mention it only because I had never heard of such a thing. I could have written this post over 8 years ago. Just as we started tests the fevers stopped. My Doctor thinks it was just a stubborn virus. My daughter is a fever girl, if her immune system is fighting something, anything, she gets a fever. I've learned to gague her illness by how she's acting and not how high the fever is, she just runs hot while battling an illness.

My daughter had recurrent HIGH HIGH fevers around the same age. EVERYONE including nurses and doctors insisted it WAS NOT teething, however I just feel like that was the ONLY logical explanation.

She would get a low grade fever, then it would shoot up really high. She would cut a tooth and all of a sudden the fever would break and she was fine. Then another molar was coming in and yet again, another high fever...the tooth cut and once again, the fever dropped and she was fine. This happened at least 3-4 times...with every molar. It couldn't have been a virus or a bad germ...NO ONE else in the family got sick. She was the ONLY one who had any fever symptoms which broke EVERYTIME a tooth came through.

The doctor insisted it was NOT teething and probably just a fever virus. But, I just refuse to believe that since she was fine once the tooth cut AND no one else came down with the fever.
