Hi all. We are supposed to be getting married in June this year and we have almost all of our plans together but we can't find someone to officiate. We would like a non denominational minister or a Justice to come to the hall where we are having the wedding and marry us. We found one place that would do it but wanted over 400 to do it. Can anyone help us find someone a little cheaper?? Please help.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone. Just so you all know they have done away with JP's . A friend gave me a number for a city clerk that did weddings and she said that there are no longer JP's. If anyone is here in Evansville she also said that she is pretty much the only one downtown that will do weddings. But lucky us she is able to do our wedding. Thanks again

There's a woman in Milltown who married several of my relatives. I didn't get a heavy religious vibe from those weddings, I don't know if she's a minister or what. I don't know much about her but if you're still looking, let me know and I'll ask around to see if I can find her.

Dear M.,
Marriage is God's idea, as is the family. Please reconsider and begin your married life together based on biblical truth and a solid foundation of faith, hope and love.
Rod Smith of TAB, came to our home and did a fabulous job when he married our son, and daughter in law nine years ago. Christians and the church are getting a lot of bad press these days, but it is this kind of committment of love and trust in one another that will help your marriage go a long, long way.
May God lead and bless your new life together founded on Him.

Our justice of the peace from the courthouse married us. She did a wonderful job! It's been six years, but I believe that she didn't charge us, but we did pay her for her time. Good luck!!

I was married last Sept and used Justice of the Peace Mike Drago... I think he only charged us something like $50, and he came to our site so we didn't have to get hitched at the courthouse. He was very nice and affordable. He comes with his own ceremony, or will use yours. Good luck!

If you are in the Lexington, Ky area, our minister is great. I am not sure of his schedule, since June is a heavy wedding month, but if you would like his contact info, please contact me @ ____@____.com. I know he does not charge anywhere near that much.

Please tell her I referred you. We did a wedding at the FW History center in November.

She was wonderful and funny, and still reverant.

If you live in Indiana, any clerk-treasurer can do it. I was a clerk-treasurer for 6 years, so I know. However, not all of them are willing or excited about doing it. I only had one request, and I suggested they try calling the county first. (It would have made me very nervous.) The man who did the job before me did do one ceremony. Just call city hall, like someone else suggested.

M.- the courthouse is the place to begin. My husband and I are not christians and did not want a church wedding (despite all of the hoopla about marriage being a christian thing- it was around long before christianity). We found a great guy at the courthouse and made sure that we got the legal ceremony with no mention of god or christian vows. TYpically they do not charge, but you are supposed to tip generously.

Also- my brother had a buddhist ceremony which was really cool.

And- if you have a good friend who you would like to perform the ceremony- it is very easy for a person to become a marriage officiant- a friend of mine did this and it made the wedding so much more personal.

Good luck!

My husband and I were just married last August and our Justice of Peace from our local courthouse married us. She was willing to travel as long as it fit her schedule and she only charged us 50.00. Hope this helps!
