Witch Hazel is a gentle astringent (use with a cotton ball). My mom used it on all of us when we had baby acne. It helps.

My son also has eczema and had those bumps until about one year old. I found that if i put certain lotions on him it got worse. Especially baby oil. See if your daughter has eczema you have to educate yourself on the condition. See their bodies temperature is different.they cannot sweat like us everything is off. Thats why they itch so much.
I found that natural lotions with no chemicals helped his skin tremendously. I used the baby natures lotion at target,its in a blue bottle and also i use the baby care set from arbonne skin care. I just wanted to add two things. Regarding the hydrocortisone 1% cream, which worked pretty good for my son when he was 3 weeks, my neighbor works for a dermatologist and said not to use it more than a handful of times and to mix it with a gental lotion. If you use it too much the skin gets "addicted" to it and it can do more harm than good. Re: eczema sp? my neighbor also told me that babies who have dairy before 12 months are very prone to getting it. I agree with whoever said it sounds more like exema. My daughter had it but outgrew it after around 18 mos. I made a point not to give her too many baths as to not dry out her skin too much. Use lots of moisturizer! I used Aveeno, like Chrystal E. had said. Worked great. HTH's

My daughter, whose three months has the same problem, and it WAS really severe. I used pure aloe on it, and it cleared up within 10 days, but it kept coming back. I then switched to a shampoo/body wash called MUSTELA which is for babies with acne prone skin or excezma (sold at babies r us). Unfortunately the Mustela is expensive about $15 a bottle, but it WORKS, and you only need a very small amount each wash. I'm still on my first bottle. I also wash every other day with NO soap. Try aloe first though, its cheap, natural and easy to find. Hope any of this helps.

I can't tell you if what your daughter has is baby acne but my daughter had it from about 1 month until 3-4 months and what my pediatrician recommended was to use a little bit of 1% hydrocortisone (sp). Also she recommended using Dove white bar soap for her baths because it is less irratating to the skin. It worked wonders. Within a matter of 2 days it was all gone. Then I would just spot medicate when neccessary. Good Luck!

that's normal i think. my youngest had the same issues. fortunately it went away totally soon thereafter. it doesn't last long. it has to do with clogged pores or something. it doesn't mean she'll have them all her childhood, just a phase or whatever most likely. My son is five now and has no bumps, hasn't had for several years.

Also ... there is a lotion (Renew) that is inexpensive and ordered over the internet. It has proved to be wonderful for eczema and all other problems with baby's skin.

Both of my kids have something that sounds similar. One is almost 4 months and the other is 2. It seems to worsen in the heat. My son (2 yrs) has gotten it every summer. I bath him every day in the summer. They seem to get it on their backs and neck. The baking soda is a great idea. It does work great for rashes. I thought it was baby acne too, but my son is now 2 and he still gets it. I think it is caused from sweating in the summer. It goes away when the whether cools off. You could talk to your Dr., but I wouldn't be too concerned unless your child is really covered in it. I sometimes use a little of cornstarch powder around the neck area to keep them dry. Our Pediatrician also said it is ok to us cortisone cream once in awhile too.

My son has had severe eczema since birth. I would suggest bathing her for 15-20 minutes, making sure that any part of her body that has acne has a wet towel on it or is being soaked with water. A wet hoody towel works best for covering the head, neck and shoulders (if she tolerates it). When you take her out of the bath tub, lightly towel try her off and put a moisturizing cream on top of the acne. Cerave a cream that we love that is over-the-counter works great. We had to take my son to a place in Colorado that is world-renowned for its treatment of eczema and this is the advice they gave us. My son has had relief from his eczema symptoms since we got back. My baby girl had it really bad at about 2 months. the doctor said not to use anything on it because it should go away. it lasted awhile and i thought it heat rash too because it was all over her head and back. i changed her sheets and blanket every couple of days so she wouldnt be sleeping in the same dirty stuff. i washed her face with mustela face wipes and used the face lotion and it helped a bit. check with the pediatrician to make sure it is acne and ask him if he recommends anything.

I agree it sounds more like excema (i can not spell) I would suggest only bathing every other day or two days, and using a very mild soap like aveeno or for other body parts baking soda and water. Baking soda is awesome for all kinds of skin rashes, diaper rash etc. My son has ecsema ( awful at spelling)on his legs and he doesnt itch but thinks like pull ups and swip diapers or even big boy pants drive him nuts as it rubs on the way up. You may also need to change laundry soap if this is indeed what it is.
On the other hand is it strictly on the face? 8 months is a big teething time and she may drooling alot more which can cause rashes/bumps from moisture. I would say next time you see the dr. bring it up or if you do have a nurse hotline just give a call, I really dont think its anything to worry about however I have 3 kids and call every other week just for peace of mind.

My son had the same problem when he was 3mo or so. He didn't have it for too long and all I did was follow the advice from a nurse from the hospital where he was born. She said it was common and it goes away, just wipe his face with a warm wash cloth everyday. I didn't use anything else and hopefully you won't have to too. Its pretty unusual for an 8 month old child to have baby acne - usually, baby acne effects only very young infants (from between birth-4 or 5 months) and it certainly doesn't take months for it to go away. Baby acne is caused by the childs oil glands learning to work properly as they come into the world: as they get older, the acne goes away because the skin becomes accustomed to being out of the womb and working normally, which is why it usually only effects newborns and very young infants. Even if if it were baby acne, there is no way for you to treat it: babies grow out of the condition quickly, so there is no need for meds or treatment because it resolves itself.

Its VERY much more likely that your daughter has eczema: it is a VERY common skin condition that so many people suffer from and they usually have had it since they were very young too. Its not serious so no need to worry, but it displays itself as clusters and patchs of little bumps, like acne, and it may or may not be red. It can happen anywhere on the body (my sister gets eczema only on her toes!) and can be caused by an infinite amount of scenarios. Take her to the ped: if it does look like eczema, he/she will prescribe you a very low dose tube of steroid cream - the cream will make it go away fairly quickly, and you'll have the tube around for awhile so that if it shows back up, you just rub the cream on there before it gets bad.

Go have her seen by your ped, they will know exactly what to do and be able to diagnose if it is eczema, acne, or some other skin condition, and give you the proper cream to make it go away.
