It's tempting to be unique, but to stay as "standard" as possible on the spelling works better, I think, in the long run. "Breeanna" may be great for a three-year-old cutie, but "Brianna" might be better when she's in pre-med.
Okay, so I am 38 weeks today and am having my baby in a little over a week and need some opinions on the name! We are going to be surprised and have picked out the boy's name (Jason James) and are pretty much set on the girl's name, just not the spelling. We like Brianna Emma and Brianna Rachel. Leaning more towards Emma for the middle name though. But which spelling of Brianna do you like best? We also would call her Bree for a nickname and have one daughter named Alexia Joy.
Brianna
Breanna
Breeana
Thanks in advance for the feedback!

Brianna. Her name will be on a resume one day and Breeanna looks like her parents didn't know how to spell:)
I like Brianna or Breanna. Breanna especially if you want to call her Bre or Bree. And Emma is beautiful but there's too many similar sounds in Brianna Emma, Brianna or Breanna Rachel sounds better. If you do one n (breeana) people could call her Bree-Ah-na. Which they may anyway though. Congrats!
Brianna
It is more conventional and she can find things with her name on it, spelled the way she spells it It's no fun if you can't find your name on a barrette or Christmas ornament when your 5 and 6.
Okay, I like Brianna Rachel better just b/c I think the vowel at the end of the first and vowel at the beginning makes it a bit awkward to say, although I do like the name Emma, we almost named our first DD that. And the traditional spelling of Brianna is good. I named my second dd Elizabeth and call her Lizzy-always people are spelling it Lizzie, no matter what you do people will misspell your name.
Definitely Brianna-- the most usual spelling for this unusual name. If you go with the others, she will forever be correcting people (and so will you, until she's old enough to do so). The sound is exactly the same no matter which of these spellings you use, so save her a lifetime of hassles and spell it Brianna. It's still a fairly unusual name so you don't have to worry that she will have the same name as lots of other Briannas in school.
About another poster: what is a "long n" and a "short n" sound? Brianna Rachel sounds and looks better. The other two look like banana to me :)
Such a pretty name! I like the spelling Brianna. I love both Emma and Rachel for a middle name but agree with some that Rachel rolls off the tongue a little easier. It may sound silly but I always tried out the name by yelling it like I am calling them from another room.
Congratulations! :)
Are you wanting to have Brianna with short n sound or long n sound?
Also Bri and Bre will be pronounced differently- atleast I would.
I know a girl with the name Bryanna. And it's pronounced just as it looks with a short n sound in anna.
I like Emma for the middle name.
I like Brianna and Breanna, and I think there are enough people who don't know the traditional spelling that regardless of which one you go with, she's going to have a life time of telling people "no i not e!", but that's okay! ;) Although I did have to giggle about Margie's suggestions of going with an i so she can find things with her name on it! So true!
I like the traditional spelling: Brianna
Congrats!!
Breanna will cut down on mispronunciations.
Brianna is traditional, but some people pronoucne thiers Bry-Anna - confusing
Breeeeeeeanna will increase her being teased. Looks childlike, since its spelled phonetically.
Brianna Rachel is perfect all around. It sounds best, it looks pretty, it's classic and elegant. Brianna Emma is okay, but it's a bit singsongy and it's a bit of a mouthful. Brianna Rachel flows a lot better and sounds the nicest.
You can easily use Bree as a nickname, since nicknames don't have to be right in the name spelling. That would be a bit twee and immature.
I would go with the most traditional spelling. At my volunteer job I check people in and they have to spell their names for me and if they have an unusual name that has to be spelled everytime it gets frustrating. You can tell it in their tone of voice. I will spell it traditionally before typing and they will spell it their special way. I actually asked one person if they wished their parents had named them Jane. She replied 'every day'.
I have a friend whose name (not nickname) is Bree. If you want to call her that, why not just name her that? I think it's such a pretty name. Or you could call her Bree Emma, which is a fun name too, and I think flows a little better than Brianna Emma (which is kind of a mouthful).
Congrats and good luck with labor and delivery!!
stick with the conventional spelling Brianna or she will spend the rest of her life spelling her name for people and she will hate you for it. Trust me my boys and husband have a difficult last name and spend most of thier lives spelling it it makes the kids crazy.
But if you want my honest opinion I would go with Emma I just think it is a prettier name.
This is how I spell my daughter's Brianna nickname Bre.
Loving my four kids
if you're planning on Bree....then make it simpler for her (when she hits KG)! Use the Breeana!
I love the last post...Brienne is a really sweet name, unique but not weird. My daughter's name is Emma but I can't really picture it as a middle name. I like Breanna is you're going to call her Bre, what about Breanna M.?
One of the guys I work with and his wife just named their daughter - Brienne Elyesse - born in May 2011
I would go with Brianna.
Congratulations!
Brianna
And I think you're right not to "name" her a NICKNAME!
If you plan on calling her Bree why not just name her Bree???? I say this because in our own infinite wisdom we planned on a nickname for our daughter based on initials...and it never came to fruition. I went to school with a Bree and she was called both Bree and also Bree ( insert middle name here)
Good luck!
I would go with Brianna. My daughters is Briana Michele with 1 n and 1 L
Hi M.,
I like Brianna
A.
Brianna Rachel! I'm with the mom's who say the conventional spelling will be nice when she wants fun things with her name on it, and with the mom who said that Brianna will be taken seriously in med school one day, while Breeana would look like a little girls name forever. One more thing--Brianna to me is pronounced Bree-ahnna, while Breanna would/could rhyme with Deanna. I think Brianna looks prettier when written, too. She'll have fun dotting the "i" with various hearts, etc. over the years! Good luck and congrats!!!
brianna. getting creative with spellings just annoys people
