Baby's Feet Always Cold & Sweaty

My daughter had the sweatiest little feet I had ever seen as a baby. I mean it seemed that I would literally wipe the sweat off her feet and it would "instantly" appear again, very sweaty, just like you said even with socks. You could ring out the sweat fromher socks, it was crazy. I asked the doctor about it, and she gave me an ointment to use on her, I am sorry I can't remember what it was called, but anyway, I only used it a few times, it worked great. Her doctor did NOT seemd overly concerned about the problem, she didn't think it was a big deal. The ointment wasn't for sweaty feet, I want to say it was for excema or something (which I thought was wierd..but don't quote me, cuz I really don't remember for sure which it was) I don't know if it was the ointment or if it was just something she grew out of, but she is 3 now, and she doesn't have that problem. As a matter of fact, I dont remember her having any issues with it since she was about 1. She has average sweaty feet. So I would say, don't stress out over it too much, if it is a problem your doctor will tell you. Don't "sweat" it...LOL, seriuosly, don't let people get you paranoid over it.

I have a 4 month old boy and his hands and feet get real cold sometimes too. I haven't had as much of a problem with sweating, but his feet do feel "clammy" a lot. What I have heard and read is that as long as their temperature is normal, then you don't really need to worry. Babies tend to have colder hands and feet because of the circulation in their little bodies. The cold tends to work it's way out as they get older. The best way you can tell if your baby is hot or cold is to feel the back of their neck. If it is cold, then they are cold, if it's warm, then they are fine. I have used this several times with my son and he's always ok. Now, I am not a doctor, so if you are still concerned after reading everyone's responses, you should definitely take it up with your ped. Hope that helps!

My son was the same way. You would have socks on him and his feet would still be cold and sweaty and smell. My doctor told me there was nothing to worry about. She checked to see the blood flow and he was fine. He finally grew out of it at about 10 mts or so. Now the problem is keeping socks on him. But next time just mention to the dr. and they should just look at them and make sure the feet are getting blood. Other then that it is normal.

I would definately talk with your doctor but there is a condition called Hyperhydrosis. Hyperhydrosis is a condition in which the sweat glands are over productive resulting in excessive perspiration. This condition is most common in adolescents and young adults. Each of us has a set point for our metabolism. This set point is somewhat like the thermostat in our homes. Some folks have a higher set point than others. It's just their natural metabolic set point. I have a friend, mother and daughter, that their hands and feet are always moist. They have higher than usual metabolisms. If they sit still for a while then their hands and feet warm up but if they are moving the hands and feet are cold again. And they both have incredible figures! But again, I would consult with my pediatrician.

my 5 month old daughter if her feet gets cold her feet turns blue and the same as for her hands. We took her to the peidatritian and he told me that she is just a cold natured little girl. Who knows maybe your daughter is just cold natured also.

i would check with the pediatrician, definitely, just to be sure there isn't something really serious going on (for example, a thyroid problem).

my 1st thought, though, was that maybe she has hyperhidrosis, which is a harmless neurological condition causing sweaty hands & feet. there are medications & surgeries that can treat it if you want to go that route, but it's not a big deal medically. socially it is really a huge drag!! i have had hyperhidrosis my whole life and the worst was in middle school & high school. it's a bit less of a problem now that i am an adult but i still deal with it all the time.
