Sweaty Hands and Feet - The Colony,TX

My 7 1/2yr old son has severe sweaty hands and feet. As long as I can remember, he's had this issue. I can remember watching him crawl around and noticing the bottom of his feet were shiny with sweat. He doesn't smell or anything...it's just a lot of sweat. I would say his hands/feet are sweaty more often during the day than not.

Anyone have any idea what's going on? What this could mean? His 8yr checkup is in a couple of months, so I'll be asking the doctor then, but, I just wondered if any of you have experienced something like this.

Thanks in advance!

I've had it since childhood, now approaching 40 and I still sweat. I remember it being embarrassing when I have to shake hands or hold hands...just thinking of the anticipated contact would make my hands sweat more. I never got treated for it, and don't regret that I didn't. To this day, I do not have a problem with dry cracked heels and my hands look comparatively youthful to others my age.

Could be he has Hyperhidrosis.
We have a young friend that has this.. Once he was a teen he went for treatments and it has helped a lot.. Here is a good article.. Do mention it to the doctor so he can record it.. Not sure if they will want to treat your son at this age, but I know in his teens they can offer some meds or treatments if this is what he has..

I laughed when I saw the heading for this post. I am notorious in my family for having the sweatiest, they say clamiest, feet and hands. My parents used to joke that my feet have their own atmosphere. When I was in chemistry class and we had through black lab tables, my hands would leave sweat prints. Nice!

I am of Italian decent, I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but I know everyone on the Italian side of the family - we sweat easily.

I'm interested in hearing other responses and I sincerely hope he's just in the clammy club and its not something more serious.

Sounds like hyperhydrosis. I am 30 yrs old and have it on my hands and feet. It is something I didnt realize was an actual problem until I was in middle 20s. I would be willing to share all the things I have tried and the problems I have had. I do recommend asking the pediatrician and try to help him so it doesnt interfere with life and cause him discomfort.
