Baby's First Halloween

Hello Mom's,

This is my babys first Halloween and grandparents are coming from out of town to take the little one trick or treating. This will be my first Halloween in Houston. My question is, what do you all recommend we do for this day. Is there a family event going on, where we can all have fun and enjoy the baby's first halloween. We are probably all dressing up, so I want to go where people won't look at us weird for being dressed up and grown ups. Thank you.

What can I do next?

There is usually a little pumpkin patch at the Nature Center in
Bellaire on Evergreen. I took pictures of my son there when he was
about your daughter's age. There is also a great farm that is much
bigger and fancier called Drewberry Farm
(http://www.dewberry farm.com/). If you look around town in a few
weeks there are several churches that also have pumpkin patches for
kids and some small activities.

We always go to the Houston Arboretum and Nature
Center's<http://www.houstona rboretum. org/>Halloween celebration.
Not
sure of the status on that this year due to
damage from Ike. Nothing on their website yet. I'm going to keep
checking.

Also, the Children's Museum <http://www.cmhousto n.org/> has lots of
Halloween stuff and a members-only party that's really fun. Really
fun.
And the membership is one of the best deals in Houston. They also
have the
Tot room which would be really good for a chid your daughter's age.

West U has a lot of fun trick-or-treating. My sister lives there and it was
fun to see all the kids up and down the streets with every house
involved in the trick-or-treating. In my neighborhood I might have
the door bell ring twice, so we have moved our tradition to being in
West U on Halloween night.

Picture people usually have a coupon for a free picture on your
child dressed up for halloween. It might be fun to get your
daughters picture taken for her first halloween.

West U Baptist hosts a pumpkin patch at Crosspoint church every
year. Check out their website for more info.....

the Nature Discovery Center has pumpkins that make a SUPER photo op!
Call and see when they'll deliver them so you can go when they have
a lot (they sell them, so the supply lags!):
The Bellaire Nature Discovery center has a pumpkin patch every year
which makes great photo op. There's Zoo Boo at the Houston Zoo but
their pumpkin patch isn't as good a photo op for such a little one.
And most of their other activities are better for older children—
although they have pumpkin painting (on little tiny pumpkins) which
was nice to have on the mantel and is fairly easy even for an 11
month old. I thought most of the other activities around town were
really geared for a bit older child, but they are nice photo ops
(like Children's Museum activities).
the little gym always has something. the zoo does as well. library
might too

Gymboree on Post Oak has a party.

I heard they usually have a halloween walk in downtown. Also the Friday before Halloween the Ymca has a halloween bash.
