From my experience the toenails do not grow as fast as the fingernails. It is totally normal. I have 2 children of my own 3 and 10 months and I am a pediatric RN. Hope that helps. I wouldn't worry.
My six month old boy has toenails that don't seem to be growing. The nail on the big toes have grown quite a bit, and I've needed to clip then once a month or so. The other toe nails don't seem to grow at all. Has anyone ever experienced this? Is it normal?

My daughter was the same way at that age...her fingernails needed clipping all the time, but her little toenails grew at a much slower rate. She is 20 months now and they seem to have caught up to each other. :)
My daughter is the same way. She's 17 months, and I've never trimmed her toe nails. My theory is that her toenails are just growing at the same pace as her feet. So while they're never "short", they also never catch up and need to be trimmed.
Hi E.,
My daughter is almost 17 mos., and I've maybe clipped her toenails (with the exception of the big toes) two or three times since she was born. So don't worry -- the toenails grow a lot more slowly on adults, too!
Best,
R.
Yes! I hardly ever cut my child's toe nails he is 7 now and they grow as much as his fingers do I would not worry about it.
totally! my first son, who is now 2.5 never needed me to trim his toenails--- i couldn't figure it out either, because his fingernails needed trimming all the time. don't worry about it, its nothing.
Normal. I personally only trim my toe nails about 2 times a year....been like that my whole life.
