my son is 8 mos old and normally sleeps from 8pm until 8am, but recently hes been waking up at 7. most of the time he entertains himself but if he hears any one get up he thinks they should come get him and cries. this isn't a huge problem or anything i'm just wondering if maybe i need to start feeding him a bigger bottle before bed or if he's just moving on into a different sleep pattern cause i know they do that...i'm just not sure at what age. opinions?

What can I do next?

This is totally normal. If it starts seeming like he's missing that hour of sleep he's used to getting, as counter intuitive as it seems, put him to bed earlier. Around 6 months old, we started doing this with my son - moved from a 7:30 bedtime to a 6:45 or 7:00 bedtime because he was waking up earlier, but still needed the total number hours of sleep he was used to. In fact, even at 16 months old we still put him to bed extra early (6pm at times) if he's starting to lose sleep on early wake ups or missed naps. He ALWAYS sleeps at least until his normal time after going to bed early and usually sleeps even later. My advice is move his schedule up a bit to around 7:00 or 7:30 pm and see how this affects his wakeup time. Even if it remains 7am - at least he's getting more sleep like he needs.

This is totally fine and normal, don't worry about feeding him more, just be ready to get up a little earlier with him.

He could be getting teeth. I would make sure you give him some baby motrin and maybe some hylands teething tablets before he goes to sleep. otherwise,I would say let him entertain himself and do not worry about. unfortunately,we can not control their sleeping patterns. I would also make sure he has a dark curtain on his window so it stays dark. Good luck

He is just more alert and not needing that same amount of sleep as he used to.

Keep him busy and active during the day.

He is growing really quickly and absorbing knowledge constantly..

He does not want to miss out on anything.
