E.M.
Sounds bloated to me. If she's formula fed, that could be the culprit. Take her to an actual ped. You saw an ER doc. They are NOT the same (no offense).
my daughter has a very large belly she is only 10 weeks old about a month ago i took her to the er thinking something was wrong they exrayed her even the doc said it looked strange but exray came back fine about a month has went by and it seems to gotten even bigger now she hasnt been having normal BM s im starting to get worried she has been to all her check ups but just withing the last two weeks it seems bigger could this be a health problem. she doesnt seem to be uncomfortable or anything shes not fussy she just seems to sleep a lil to muchwhat does everyone think?
I did follow up with a ped right after they didnt think it was a problem but like i said weeks have went by and it seems even bigger and more abnomral since then

If you are not satisfied with what the ER told you, then get a second, or even third opinion. It's better to err on the side of caution. You are her mother, and often times our guts are right. Keep asking questions until you get to the bottom of the problem.
Sounds like an allergy to what she's drinking. Have you played around with your diet if you are bfd'ing or tried a different formula? Bloated belly doesnt sound right for such a young baby, I'd definitely let the doc know that you are MORE than concerned until he/she convinces you otherwise.
Have her, checked again.
Get a 2nd opinion.
Distended belly, can mean many different things. From gas to other things more serious or a blockage.
You are worried.
So, take her back to the Doctor and get an answer. And as you said, her belly is getting bigger. For the past 2 weeks.
And her BM's are not normal.
take her back to the Doctor.
If your instinct tells you something isn't right, I would take her back to her regular doctor and let them know how worried you are. Ask them if there is anything they can check. I would also keep a journal of her intake and output to get a really good idea of where she is with BM's and such.
It could be nothing, but I would get it checked out to be sure. You will feel better and so might she.
Good luck.
I would take her in. A distended belly, not pooping, and lethargy (sleeping to much) is signs of a stomach issue. My DD was born with a rare disease called Hirschsprung's and she had all of those symptoms plus a few other ones. I would definitely taker her in asap.
You need to have this child examined BEFORE her next scheduled appointment. Not the ER. Her pediatrician. ASAP.
I'd follow up with the pedi AGAIN.
my daughter (who is now 2) had the same problem.
are you breast feeding? if so, try cutting back on gluten and other things, maybe soy too. if you are not breastfeeding i would consult with the doctor about her being constipated or blocked. you may need to switch formulas.
eta: it took us two years to figure out my daughter's problem. her belly was HUGE and she was, otherwise, a tiny little thing, so it just made her belly look even that much bigger. but after 3 surgeries and many doctors and tests, it turns out she has the same thing i do: celiac disease. crazy how that can show up SO early. but it is incredibly HARD to diagnose and can take up to 11 years to show up or diagnose, so don't give up. some kids need intuitive parents like you!
My son also has a big belly, but his was already apparent in an ultrasound. OB/GYN made a comment to the effect that my baby had a large abdomen, but had no concerns beyond that. He hasn't had any problems in regards to the stomach, it's just shaped that way. He's a toddler now and he has slimmed down with him being so active, but it is still noticeable. Hope all is OK with your daughter too.
Hi honey,
I see that no one has mentioned the possibility of parasites....I know that may seem weird, but my son had Giardia right after he was born and it caused all manner of problems. Insist that your peditrician does a fecal sample (incredibly easy, just collect a sample from her diaper and put it into a plastic bag) to check for parasites. If they won't do it, I would frankly lie to a vet and tell them it's a puppy. That's how I found out what was wrong with my son--doctors wouldn't listen to me and I KNEW something was wrong.
You have Mama-vision for a reason! Keep with it--if a doctor tries to pat you on the head and tell you that you're crazy, keep trying anyway. It's tempting to bite their hand off, by the way, but try not to.....lol...
Best wishes and blessings
