My sister gave me a card on Mothers Day that was a godmother card along with a small gift, couldn't figure out why she was giving me a gift, I read the inside of the card first which was signed from my niece, took me a minute lol you could do something like that for Christmas

Rent the Lion King or give her a copy and watch with her. In it when the old lion holds up the little lion to show him as one of the family, that is how my minister described baptism.

EDIT: I realized the the note examples look confusing, so I clarified them somewhat.

Depending on how familar your sister is with Disney movies.... you could BUY a Disney movie that has a godmother in it of some sort... Sleeping Beauty has the 3 fairy godmothers... Cinderella has a fairy godmother... I'm sure there are others but I'm drawing a blank... give her the movie as a gift (xmas, maybe?) and inside the case of the movie... put a note that says something like:

"Dear Aunt (sisters name), in this movie, (character's name) has a wonderful fairy Godmother. I need a wonderful Godmother, too, and the first person I thought of is you! Love, (son's name)"

Alternatively, you could do the same thing but make the request from you (and your husband if you are married) with a note that reads something like:

"(sisters name), As I was thinking about the story in this movie, I couldn't help noticing that (character name) has a very special fairy Godmother. I think (son's name) deserves a very special Godmother, and I would be very honored if you would be his Godmother. Love, S.."

- if using Cinderella, character name would be Cinderella. If using Sleeping Beauty, character name would be Aurora, and the wording would be changed to reflect three godmothers.

My sister-in-law asked my husband by taking a picture of our neice with a sign that said "Will you be my Godfather? Circle yes or no" and then emailed it to him. It was very cute. You could always take a picture and give it to your sister for Christmas. Just an idea.

Dear S.,
Depending on your faith.. I'm not sure if there are particular customs/events at your place of worship that you celebrate at this time of year or throughtout the year (depending on when you are going to ask her..) but perhaps you could invite her to go to one of those events and or perhaps take her out afterwards for a nice lunch out at a unique restaurant.. depending on where you live..or have her over for dinner.

To focus on the true meaning of being a godmother is always appropriate in my opinion. You are choosing her because I'm assuming you feel she will be a good faith role-model for your son throughout his life. If you have a photograph of the two of them together or a photograph of your son.. to incorporate into the gift is very thoughtful and a nice keepsake.

along with a heart-felt note about why you choose her to be your son's godmother..would make her feel honored and special.. There are several nice religious gift shops in the area.. I particularly like the one on Randall road by the strip of stores by Target and Michaels in lake in the hills.. but there is the "little way" downtown Crytal lake for Catholics and also another general religious one on Rt 14 in Crystal lake..

they all have very pretty gifts or you can always just go with a more classic choice if those stores don't appeal to you.. a pretty silver picture frame or pretty ornament from any number of places.. pottery barn,Marietta's downtown Crystal lake.. hallmark and so forth..you could even have it personalized.. engraved with a short message as well..

and then wrap it up with pretty paper and a pretty bow!!!

she will always remember the time and thought you put into choosing her as your son's godmother and your gift.
I wish you luck with this very important and meaningful event!
Sincerely,
Pam
