Bed Recommendations

After several years of sleeping on a futon, my husband and I have decided to treat ourselves to a new bed. The futon suited us fine cos his back gets sore if the bed is too soft. However our futon is now really old, has been re-stuffed a couple of times and does not feel luxuriously comfortable! With a 3 and 4 year old wearing me out each day, I really look forward to going to bed! If you have a bed that you can't wait to climb into each night, I want to hear about it :) Make or brand, where you got it etc. Also if you recently bought a bed and are disappointed with it, I'd also like to hear about it.
Thanks so much

We have a sleep number bed and we really like it. You can make it as firm or soft as you want (on each side) and it never sags because it uses air inside not coils. We've had it for almost 10 years now. I wish you lots of good sleep!

I absolutely love my full-size Visco Memory Foam mattress. I got the medium viscosity, I think it was called the "Imperial". I also got a really nice non-folding wood futon bed frame to go with it, as I hate traditional box spring/metal frame combos. I bought it in person at Cotton Cloud Futons, right here in Portland on Broadway and 7th. All locally owned and manufactured, the owner was a gem:) She started her business making each bed by her own hand, and still does today with a crew of helpers:) I am a stomach sleeper, and before having this bed would wake up with numb arms. This bed has enough give with the right amount of support to alleviate that:) I will never sleep on anything but memory foam again. I even got a twin sized one for my daughter, and she loves it so much. I think it is important for kids to be comfy too:) I stayed the summer at a house a few years ago that had a mattress from Cotton Cloud, it was a cotton/memory foam layered mattress, and that is what sold me on buying one of my own:) I also bought an organic cotton stuffed futon for the guest room from her as well, and it is the best futon mattress I have ever slept on. Also, everything came with a ten-year warranty:) http://www.cottoncloudfutons.com/onlinefutonstore.01/
I am off to sleep now:) Good luck searching for the bed of your dreams:)

I really like the Tempurpedic beds, however I sleep on a Aerobed. Much more affordable! I've also heard good things about the Sleep Number beds. My husband and I sleep in different beds because the one he likes makes my back hurt. He's too stubborn to purchase a bed that we both might like or that may actually help keep his knees from hurting all night.
Good luck! and take advantage of the 90 night trials. Remember you get what you pay for.

If not already said- Tempur-pedic. It cost more but the benefits for many years of back health are way worth it. BedMart has the best price and may throw in the pillows. If not the whole bed try new pillows by them and a mattress topper
Good luck with your search

Mattress shopping is a horrible undertaking. The exact same mattress will have 5 different names at 5 different retailers. They do it like that so that you can't shop around and compare prices.

My suggestion (I got this from Consumer Reports, I think) is to go to a retailer having a big sale, and just lie on a bunch of beds. Buy the cheapest one that feels good to you. Remember that you can negotiate on mattresses just like cars. Our mattress was originally $1200, on sale for $800, and I got it for $650.

Google "mattress shopping" and you'll get lots of good tips!

I have a 3 1/2 inch memory foam mattress that I got on Overstock.com. It is like sleeping in a cloud, I've had it for four years and wouldn't ever want to be without it, ever. They are not expensive on Overstock, check it out.

I bought a sleep number bed (basically an air mattress) and I could not sleep on it,so I sold it.
I then bought another bed that I did not find comfortable until I bought a tempurpedic mattress topper that I got at costco and I now I sleep very comfortably.
