Here is my issue.. I was on the depo shot but I stopped taking it when I was due for my shot at the end of august. Before that I had the i.u.d. Mirena. I didn't switch to another birth control. After three years of hormonal birth control and it messing with my body, I felt it was time to let my body go back to normal. Saying that, I haven't had a period since I had my son three years ago. Here and there I would get spotting but my doctor said it was normal. Now, I haven't had any bleeding at all since I stopped the depo. Not even spotting. Not to overshare but my husband and I did have sex about two or three weeks ago without any contraception. I have been noticing a lot lately that I easily become naseous with no warning it hits me, I've been getting a lot of headaches and stomach aches lately and I'm exhausted. We have two children already, ages 3 and 4 years old, and I'd like to think I know how to recognize the signs of being pregnant. I'm just confused because I took a home pregnancy test today and it was negative. I don't know if my body is just detoxing from the birth control or if I am pregnant and missing something. Does anyone know what I'm missing here or if it has something to do with the birth control I was taking? Please help me out here cos I'm getting worried that either way there may be something wrong.

It might not be showing up on HPT since it's so early. You may have to wait a couple more weeks. Hopefully it's just the weather change or a bug (if you don't want to be pregnant). It could possibly be your body adjusting to being off the hormones. I felt sick too when I stopped taking my BC.
I'd wait a few more weeks and test again...if it's still negative go see your dr. good luck! :)
Hi, H.:
This is what happens to women's system when then use
BC methods.
Doc's don't tell you about these side effects because
they want you to take them.
If you are pregnant, time will tell. You will just have to wait.
If you want to have another baby, go ahead and use
unprotected sex.
If you don't, look at getting a cervical cap.
Just hang in there.

If you're concerned, you should see a doctor. If your primary concern is with your lack of menstruation and the negative pregnancy test, make an appointment with your gynecologist. He or she should be able to listen to your concerns, do an examination and let you know if he or she finds anything out of order. If your gynecologist is unable to find anything but symptoms persist, try seeing your family doctor.
I was on the depo shot years and years ago... I stopped taking it because I gained 60 pounds in a year... It took at least 2 years for my period to come back. The doctors even tried to give me this little pink pill that was supposed to do it, but it didn't work....
You may want to try to visit an OB/GYN that can do ultrasounds to make sure you don't have an ectopic or tubal pregnancy, etc... Or- maybe you have a ruptured ovarian cyst they can detect w/ a vaginal ultrasound...
I don't remember getting nauseated or tired coming off of the depo, but that was a long time ago.... (10 years?)
Good luck! I hope that you get some answers soon!
