We just went to a birthday party for one of my daughter's friends. She held it at a local teahouse and had all the girls dress up (either in princess clothes or best dresses...your choice). It was AWESOME! They made up hats for each girl with tons of tulle & fake flowers and each had a train on it. The gift bags were given out at the beginning of the party so the girls could wear their stuff (colored beads and rings, a boa, and gloves). They served pink lemonade in individual teapots for the girls and had cut the Smuckers PBJ crustibles in 1/2 for the girls with slices of apple and pear on tea trays. It was darling! Then served pinkalicious cupcakes for the birthday cake. It really was a lovely time.

If your daughter isn't into the whole princess theme, then you could do American Girl and have the girls bring their dolls (BTW...we also brought our dolls to the tea party) or you could do a High School Muscial party or any other kind of theme that she likes. If you are religious then there are the Life of Faith dolls as well that are very similar to the American Girl dolls and each have their own time period of dress... Once you pick the theme, it's pretty easy from there of what else you can do. If you need any other ideas, feel free to email me...I LOVE party planning! For my daughter's 5th birthday party, we had a "beauty pageant". All the girls came dressed in "dress up" clothes, which mostly consisted of old halloween costumes. We painted their fingernails and put a little blush on their cheeks and they got to keep the polish and blush. Then I bought everyone a "crown" from the dollar store wich again they got to keep and made everybody a beauty pageant sash. I just took wide shimmery ribbon and used glitter glue to write on them. One girl was Miss Personality, One was Miss Blue Eyes, One was Miss Brown Eyes, Miss Congeniality, etc. Then I took a dollar store white table cloth and taped it to the floor for the "runway". It turned out absolutely adorable, all the kids had fun, the last one to walk was my daughter and I presented her with a bouquet of flowers (fake from the dollar store of course).

Check with the local hair colleges in your area. Some of them will have parties and they give the girls fancy hair styles and polish their nails. Little girls love it. They can wear fancy clothes and then go out to eat or have a tea party. The colleges are usually pretty cheap and they should also give you a group rate for a party. I used to do hair and we had a lot of those kinds of parties. You can also check your salon they might do those too. Have lots of fun. I have a 6yo little girl too. You will have a blast no matter what you do.

I recently had a tea party for my daughter who turned 6 last month and 10 of her friends at Anna Marie's Tea Shop in Liberty. It was the best. The staff was fabulous, and the girl's all had the greatest time (some didn't want to leave and a few asked if they could have parties there). Their web site is annateashop.com.

Madame Hatters in Eudora is the best and the cheapest.It is ran by two very sweet christian ladies Bonnie and Tammie 'Well, they are My dear friends".Its includes Tea and sandwiches and dessert,Yummy and fun they have Jewelry ,hats ,Scarves,Gloves and Feather boas it it Beutiful in there with Parasols hanging from the ceiling But they will have to be ladies alot of breakable teapots on wall shelves etc...

Go to the thrift store & get hats, purses, shoes, clothes, jewelry, give them light colored make-up & let them dress each other up for "party time." Then serve healthy "cocktails" & individual cupcakes as if they're high society! They'll love it!

Another idea is to have an American Idol party with a kareoke machine, make up different outfits using the thrift store idea again. Little girls LOVE to dress up!

Pick a theme and follow thru with your decorations and possibly the cake. You might pick a coloror two also so you can throw balloons the same colors. (be areful cause that ca cost more than you want for just 1 or 2 colors) go with rainbows. They could make hair ribbons or an art project to go ith your theme or colors. Make sure this i an eay one for you. Video a dress up parade-you can have an assortment of old (really/like 50s) hats for them to wear and parades in. Maybe take home as a favor. Be sure to take lots of pictures or have a friend do that so you can enjoy the whole thing. My girls always lovd this kind of stuff-go for it and enjoy yourself!

I have all boys, so have great "boy" ideas, but I remember when I was a little girl my mom had the coolest party for me and I still think it was the best party ever. All the girls played dress-up using old clothes from mom, hats, purses, and some brought a babydoll with them. Mom had it set up like a tea party, then the ladies got to go "shopping", my sisters set up booths downstairs. One was a nail salon, they got their nails painted, one was a photography place and all girls got to pose like a model and had pictures taken of them. At each place the girls got a trinket to remember that "store" or booth by. You could get really creative, depending on your resources and how much help you have running your booths. For me it was the best pary ever, I still have the photos, and love it!!

You could have them make their own little crowns with sparkly pipe cleaners and beads, and then wands can be make too with pipecleaners around pencils and add little ribbon streamers on the ends. Doubles as a craft AND a party favor that way :O) !

OH, and along with that thrift store idea....GLOVES , long and shortones are a total MUST. Make sure there is enough for each though , because they will ALL want a pair, especially with all the new rage over that look again !
