If it's a blood blister than he should NOT puncture it. He could get a serious infection. It will heal and his body will absorb the blood on it's own. He can soak it in Epsom salts to ease any swelling and reduce the pain. Use the splint you got him to protect it from further injury.

Keep an eye on it. If it becomes red around it and swollen after a few days he may need to see a doctor.

Yes-please douse the wound with whatever you're drinking to sterilize it and the needle, too-kidding-keep it clean with Betadine and keep it wrapped -the first sign of any redness-go to the doctor/ER right away. You can lance it-but really-better to have a doctor do it with sterile instruments.

If you think there is some infection going on than soak his finger (or hand) in salt water. The salt water will draw out the infection. Try this before popping it or puncturing it. Make sure the cut is cleaned out after and apply some Neosporin and a bandage. I would do this each night and if there is no improvement within a day or so he really should have a doctor look at it.

If he broke the bone and a piece of bone splintered off it can cause a major infection that will go into his blood stream and that could lead to other problems including death if it is not treated at all.

Put on the shredded turmeric, you can buy from Asian store. It really helped me when I had a swollen cut with pus. That's what we do in my country. It works really well and really quick. Good luck.
