Hi Moms,

I have no idea why I can't shake this sickness.... It started as a cough for 2.5 weeks (my husband had it, my son got it, now I can't get rid of it) then turned into asthmatic bronchitis... My dr put me on prednisone and zpak, went back to the doctors this past Tuesday because I'm done with my meds and feel NO DIFFERENT... He sent me for a chest xray and that came back clear and then put me on a new round of meds (hydrocodine cough syrup, cipro and an inhaler)... Had to stop taking the cough syrup and cipro...Medicines react really weird with me a lot of the time and the cough medicine (that normally knocks someone out) kept me awake all night long and the cipro had my arms, hands and face get all numb and tingle... So he stopped me on those and was "suppose" to call in a different cough syrup but forgot......While I was on the medicine it sometimes made me feel more crappy.
My cough is still deep but the color of my mucus has changed from yellow to white/clear, which is good...I'm not even worried about my cough at this point because I can deal with the cough... The problem is: I feel soooooo foggy and out of it.. I have no energy, feel dizzy sometimes, really spacey, just yucky, hard to focus on something..I brought my son to a truck show yesterday outside and I was so out of breath (shouldn't be because I'm in pretty good shape) I have no fever (never did).... I'm almost wondering if the doctor even knows what to do with me at this point... I just want to get better..I feel more out of it and that blurry feeling NOW then before I started taking all these medicines.. I hate taking medicines because I never know how my body is going to handle them.. (tons of medicines give me weird reactions)
My son's 4th bday party is next weekend and I want to knock this out of me....
Has anyone been through this for this long????? What was wrong?

The other possibility is whooping cough. In California we are having an epidemic. Adults docs often don't think of it. It's often a cough that doesn't go away. Whatever it is you maybe on the backend of it. Coughing takes a lot of energy. Try to get good rest. Drink lots of fluids.

Even though I just posted a question regarding my conditions some of your symptoms sound similar to what I had about 3 yrs ago. I saw a lung doctor and an infectious disease doctor. It was my lung doctor who after 4 months FINALLY figured out that I had histoplasmosis which is a fungal lung disease. It took me a good 2 months before I felt somewhat normal. Initially I couldn't get out of bed and NO medications helped my shortness of breath either! If they would have tested me while the histo was active they could've had me on antifungal meds in no time. Histoplasmosis in most patients goes away on it's own but is complicated if you have a suppressed immune system (like me). Also, it doesn't show up on regular chest ex-rays. The Chest CT scan showed everything. Find a good lung doctor and also look up histo online. I hope you don't have it but if it sounds like you do(read the symptoms online-you know your body best!) an ID doc and Lung doc would be your best bet. It takes persistence to get the help you need but it's worth it in the end. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!

Try super dosing on vitamin c. There is an antibiotic resistant bacteria going around that kicked our butt too. Went through the family here also. I did not get hit fully though because I started taking vitamin c and b complex - doubled up the daily dose and was taking Airborrne twice a day. You need to be sure you are eating healthy cut out all junk food and eat lots of fruits and vegetables plus your vitamins. And yea medicine as a lasssst resort. Especially since you have so many side effets. Next time at the first sign you are getting sick or anyone is sick around you or your kids, make sure you start eating super healthy and take extra dose of vitamins c and b-complex. The kids dr had told me before to use baby shampoo to wash all the kids hands/face/ears as soon as they got home to get rid of any germs coming home. That worked really well and it stopped it from spreading from one to another and back and forth.

Good luck to you and make sure you sanitize sanitize after his party and give the kids vitamins also to avoid them getting sick again. Hope you feel better soon, I know how bad that feels!

This sucks, so sorry! I can only thing of maybe taking lots of vitamin c and natural immune boosters. Drink lots of water, get plenty of rest and excersize and natural fruit and veggie shakes with the immune powders added. Whole Foods, HEB and several other stores have good quality vitamins that can help, (cheaper ones at say, Walmart and generic brands aren't as high quality). It can help combat that fatigue as well. And fill that prescription for that cough syrup, maybe it will help. My mom gets those same side effects with cipro and other medicines too.

This happened to me last fall/winter and it was horrible. Like your doctor I was put on cough syrup, zpack, and an inahler, oh and also nasal spray bc he felt fall allergies were also playing a part. I was exhausted for months bc the cough kept me awake. When I finally started feeling better which was almost 2 months later (sept and oct) the cough lingered but not as severe for most of the winter. Never really got an actual diagnosis but I hope I don't get sick like that again.

wow, sorry you're feeling so awful! Thing is drs will just dump meds into you guessing and they really usually don't help, as you see now. The virus or whatever needs to go its course and then go. If you try and suppress it, it'll freak.
That aside, what are you eating? Do NOT eat any sugar nothing with sugar in it, totally weakens the immune system. Also, no flour products or dairy products. If you eat simple, lightly steamed veggies, some brown rice, oatmeal, berries and stuff like that.
If you have a partner, have him/her put some olive oil along your spine and press with the back of a spoon up and down on the outside of your spine, NOT ON IT till it turns red, will get blood flowing. Also, while in the shower and the water is hot, rub from the chest middle outward in circular motions to loosen up phlegm.
Last year I had a bad cough and sick with no fever for nearly a month. I took no meds, just did what I suggested and it passed.
You can, if you're interested, go to an acupuncture at Turtle Island Medical Center on Yamato and Federal. They're great and helped me out many times. 4800 N Federal Hwy # 304D, Boca Raton - ###-###-####

You will benefit from doing things to boost your immune system, replenish your body's probiotic levels, detox from the meds, and receive some natural healing therapies that rebalance your energy, such as acupuncture and healing hands therapies like reiki. One of the best ways to wipe out infections is with MMS, an oxidating mineral solution. Most physicians don't understand that much about health, they are programmed to make money for the pharmaceutical sellers and they're not taught about non-pharmaceutical methods of addressing illness, which are important to keep you healthy rather than just attacking symptoms. You may want to start seeing a holistic/natural medicine oriented physician who can assist you more.

Have you read the side effects of the drugs you have been taking? Never ever take a drug w/o looking at the side effects never, never.

After you do that see if that doesn't handle.
