I didn't see either of my boys names on the list. Spencer and Ty (NOT Tyler, just Ty). I only know one other Spencer and he's in college and I don't know any other Tys. Good luck!

We had a terrible time with boy names and for reasons not worth explaining, ended up with a very traditional one... David. I love that name for my son. However, we had other faves on the list...

Ronin, Graham, Jasper, Eli were at the top of my list.

As a daycare provider and with kiddos starting school I hear these names A LOT. Jayden, Caden, Mason, Luke, Owen, Ryan, Jacob, Aiden, Gavin, Jack, Cole.

Good luck! Boy names are hard to choose!!

Not sure what woud be good with your last name, but I just heard the boy's name Zander for a boy and liked it a lot. I like Evan, Ian and Griffin too, Friend has a new Grandbaby boy named Parker which l thought was nice. I also like Brody. I tend to prefer different names, not sure if you do too. Be sure whatever it is that it will not have a funny rhyme that kids can use with the name to use on the playground. I am a teacher of young children and yes they still do this if they think of one. Hope this helps :D

We had a really hard time with boys names (and we had 2 boys). 2 "name finder" websites I found helpful are:

http://www.babynamewizard.com/
http://www.babynamegenie.com/

That Baby Name Genie is the silliest thing. You type in last name and it comes up with completely random first and middle names. And each time you do it it comes up with different random names. But the very first name it gave us, "Chase Barrett," ended up being our 2nd choice of names by the time our last son was born.

Boy you got a lot of suggestions, but I'll throw mine in too.
My son's name is Daniel. Not a single Daniel in his elementary school. He does have 2 Connors and 2 Aidens in his class. So it depends on what your going for, something a little different, something trendy, something classic? I love the name Emery, if I had an other boy that would be his name. My friends kids have great names too, like, Lincoln, Remmy, Reece, Ashton, Brady,

I'd start by asking yourself what kinds of names do you like? Traditional or more unique? Longer names that can be shortened or not? Names that have a certain # of syllables to 'go with' your last name?

My preference is for strong sounding male names like William (Will), Nicholas and Adam. I also love my son's name Evan Patrick.

Good luck!

I will throw my son's name into the mix, since I did not see it below: Benjamin Charles, not to popular, easy to pronounce and sounds good as he grows (He is Ben now, but will probably use Benjamin as an adult). Although we were also considering: Andrew and Nathan as alternative names. Congrats on your soon to be baby....

My two oldest boys names are Brandon and Tyler. These were names that I loved and had rarely heard growing up or when I was older. Yet they still managed to be in the top 10 of favorite names for EVERY year in the '90s. So they're on the top 10 for the '90s as a whole, too. I personally don't like having given my kids such common names and it's irritating when I hear 20 "Tylers" being called out in Walmart by their moms. So I'd start there, thinking whether you'd mind if it's a popular name that will be used excessively the way David and Mike were a few decades back. Jacob is one of those popular names now. Baby books (100,000 Baby Names) often have a list of what names are popular in each year or decade and the info can be looked up online.

Two years ago, I had another baby and LOVED the name Tristan. It's unusual enough so there won't be two other Brandons or Tylers in every one of my son's classes but not so unusual that it will make people react negatively to his name. (It ranked 48 out of 50 for top baby names in 2007, the year he was born.)

My husband did NOT like the name but I loved it as much as he couldn't stand it. I got my way through several methods. First, I started using the name frequently throughout the pregnancy. I'd make comments like "Isn't Tristan a nice name?" even though I knew he'd say no. I'd rub my belly and call him by name, "Hi Tristan" in front of my husband and give him a little look to let him know I was teasing him about or disagreement on the name. What I was really doing was testing the name and getting my husband used to hearing it. After a few months, the name didn't sound so foreign as it did in the beginning. He'd gotten used to it.

Another thing that helped was talking to people who had family members with that name. Or asking others what they thought of the name. For example, there was a nurse in the hospital who told my husband that she had a nephew named Tristan who was a good looking, athletic kid. She said that all the girls LOVED the name as much as they oogled over him. Most of our female friends loved the name and all the nurses commented on how different but cool the name was. That helped my husband agree to the name. The downside was that most guys he worked with thought it was a stupid name. Reminding him of the teenage girls who loved the nurse's nephew and his name helped ease that uncertainty. (Yeah, men have simple needs sometimes, LOL). Two years later, the name doesn't phase him. He doesn't care if others like it or not and he actually LIKES the name now.

So think about what YOU like and go from there. Good luck!

P.S. Reading some of the responses reminds me, think about the nicknames. If you like the name Michael but DON'T like Mike, then don't pick the name. Or use it as a middle name that likely will rarely, if ever, be used. It's likely somewhere down the line, your son will be known as Mike. I'm surprised by the mom who has a son named Ty and has never heard anyone else with that name. As I said, one of my son's name is Tyler but we call him Ty all the time. So do his friends. It's commonly used. But that's ok. That nickname I liked unlike many names I'd considered but couldn't stand the nickname that went with it.

I also liked names that flowed. Not just first and last but first, middle and last that flowed well and rolled off my lips like fine chocolate. I personally don't like when names are like speed bumps jarring your speech.

Hi,
We have a son named Ryan... I always loved the name and knew it was popular, but in the last 2 years since he was born I hear it ALL the time. Andrew is another classice favorite of mine (I love the nick name Drew). If you want something a little more unique, Camden is a nice name... we will use it if we have another son! My brother and sister-in-law just had a son and named him Kason... different, but not wierd! Good Luck!

Guess it depends on your last name. Are you looking for something
ethnic; Irish, Italian, etc. I love Irish names, Liam, Aidan, Caleb, . Then you
have the classic, John, Joseph, Matthew, Michael.

I'd go with something old fashioned and not too popular right now or there will always be at least two in his class with that name. EXTREMELY popular names at the schools around here are Jackson, Ryan, Tyler and ALex, nice names but way too many. There are always lots of Wills, Johns, James, Jacks, Charlies, and Jasons. "new" names like Parker and Bailey may end up the norm for this generation. I never hear Daniel or Paul or
Greg any more, do you?
