C-section Flap

During my pregnancy I gained about 60 lbs, ended up having to have a C-Section because my labor would progress and the baby pooped. Well, out comes this 10 lb 6.4 oz newborn, so i was destined to have a C-Section one way or the other. Anyway, I HATE how my stomach now looks. I have this flap/fold where i was cut and I just don't know what I can do about it. I've heard it has to do with how much weight I gained, genetics, etc. Whatever the reason, I want it gone, but don't want to have to have more surgery(tummy tuck) to get a flat belly appearance. Does anyone have any tips.

Unfortunately that is the way things go- but even moms who do not have c-sections tend to have a little flap of loose skin. It usually takes time but it will gradually start to look better. Keep your body well-hydrated with lots of water and your skin soft with plenty of moisturizing is probably the best thing you can do. Mine started to look better after a year and probably would have continued to look better had I not had more children:)

If you have future children don't despair, you can try for a VBAC. I am a nurse-midwife and I have delivered plenty of babies in the 10 pound range, it can be done and avoid further problems with scars and skin.

use lots of vitamin e oil it's really inexpencive (Target has it in the vatamin section) and it will give your skin the elasticity it needs to go back to it's former shape. I also gained ALOT of weight (80 lb.) I have since lost all of it and the bulge thing thanks to vitamin e.

I would definately wait and see if I wanted more kids before I did anything. I have gained atleast 60 lbs all 3 of my pregnancies and then lost it all after each, so I too had the belly flap at the bottom of my otherwise flat belly. I recently had a baby and looked around for a doctor who do a tuck at my c-section. Hope this helps.

Whoa there's another B. L on here. Wierd.

Anyway, I am in the same boat. I do sit ups and it helps, but the area where the C-section happened, there is no nerves/feeling there so I dont know how to tone the lower abdomen and cant feel it if I am. I would suggest sit ups? All different kinds and ways. Mine is a slight flap, I have learned to live with it.

I am so glad you asked this question and I'll keep coming back today to look at replies. I have the same problem for a different reason.

I was always a squat little thing (4'11" and size 14!). Then I lost a TON of weight in my mid-40's and have kept it off for going on 4 years. When you lose weight at this age, the skin doesn't snap back like it does in your 20's, so I have all sorts of sagging going on. Then I had a hysterectomy with the same kind of incision they do for C-sections, and all that skin just sags even more.

I really love being the weight I am now, but, like you, I can't stand the sagging. I may try the vitamin E someone suggested.

Thanks for bringing this up!
