Weightloss After Cesarean/pregnancy

I had my son 10 months ago today via emergency c-section. I gained around 27 pounds during my pregnancy. I quickly lost the pregnancy weight within a month or so after the delivery. When I went back to work I got sad having to leave my baby duringthe day and put on around 10 pounds. For the last 3 months I have been running 3 times a week and dieting a little and I haven't lost anything! I was about 20 pounds over what I wanted to be before I got pregnant and that weight will not come off now. I don't know if it is from a c-section but my stomach will not tone no matter what I do and I have a nice little pouch above my scar. I am getting very frustrated. Has anyone had this happen to them? Does anyone have any good weightloss techniques? I am going to FL in two months and really need to look better. I am also in a friends wedding in November and the bridesmaid dresses are skin tight and I am very scared to see how I will look in them. Thanks!!

Hi M.,

I also had a C-Section 2 years ago and I still have the flab. I had heard about weight watchers and LA Weight Loss but I do not have the money for that. I suggest just keep working at it and if you have On Demand they have quick exercises for the tummy. I have not succeeded yet but best of luck to you!

I swear by Weight Watchers. It really works and you can eat normal food and go out to dinner while staying "on program". Good luck!!

Kickboxing, or anythinf like kickboxing is GREAT because it works out your abs constantly. I will say that after 2 c-sections I was able to temporarilly lose the tummy pooch with kickboxing and crunches everyday, but then I moved and stopped working out, and the pooch is back. Sigh. So juts know going into it that it needs to be an everyday thing. And don't be too h*** o* yourself. Losing the weight in 10 months is fantastic, and really there is not too much you can do with the c-section pooch. Tummy tuck in 10 years lol?! Good luck!

Try the south beach diet - the first place you shed pounds is in the stomach.

I have had trouble with losing the weight after my last baby(DEC 06') as well. I finally started to see a difference when using tae-bo in combination with smaller meals more frequently. I have also cut out soda and have seen a big difference in my tummy. Tae-Bo is good b/c it helps tone and work the tummy, but, and hips. I have always felt that I would rather be big and toned than skinny with bulging/sagging skin!! Good Luck!

I also had my son in August 2006 by c-section. I have the same issue, right above the scar I have a small belly that will not go away. Sorry I do not have any solutions, but I will be interested in suggestions other people have.

Hi M.,
I agree with the other comment about cutting out soda, and that includes diet soda. The best thing to drink is water and if you only drink water you'll cut lots of calories easily.

This spring I canceled cable TV and I have since lost 10 lbs! If there is nothing on TV I wont sit there mindlessly flipping channels -- I got off my butt and a few weeks later my butt was smaller ;-)

You might try land's end for bathing suits, they have many 1 and 2 pieces that will hide figure flaws.

Finally, about the poochy... that's a scar you can only get with motherhood! Rock-on Sista, it's a sign that you are a MOM and probably an awesome one at that!

Good luck with everything!

Hi Mellissa, well I totally know where you are coming from. I was a size 0 before I had my daughter, keep in mind I am only 5ft tall. So when I got prego I gained 40 pds, my doc said it was b/c I was so small. I had a c-section as well, and it has taken a long long time to get my stomach somewhat flat again. I lost all the weight except 10 pds which I could afford to gain, but the flabby stomach stayed!! I find that as soon as spring comes and I walk and eat a little better I seem to tone more. But my stomach is not flat like before. i still wear a 2 piece. I find that being tan makes it look more firm and i feel better. If you do not want to tan, you can try the spray tans. I have been down this road before asking everyone for some answers, and i have not found one yet. My husband is so good though he always tells me how great I look, and thinks I look in shape, so that helps. You will be fine for the wedding, if you are really self concious about it then you can get something to wrap around your stomach to keep it flat. Good Luck, and let me know if you find something that works!
