Car Seat Safety Inspection in Brooklyn Park Area? HELP!

I am due in a few weeks, and am having trouble finding a place to do a carseat safety inspection. I live in Brooklyn Park, and the city of Brooklyn Park offers NOTHING at neither the fire dept nor the police station. I live near New Hope, but you have to be a New Hope resident. I am finding that is the same with most fire stations, and therefore am stuck, because I am a Brooklyn Park resident.I have read all about the importance of getting them checked, but had no idea how hard it was going to be to find a place. Thanks to anyone that can help!

What can I do next?

I had the same problem but eventually found a fire station in St. Louis Park. Here is the website:

I got my car inspected the day before I went into labor!
Cheers!

Try calling the city of Brooklyn Park. They should be able to refer you to someone. You could also call your local hospital. Please make sure, though, that if you find somewhere to go that the person checking your carseat is CERTIFIED. Many times when you go to a carseat "clinic" the person checking your seat is not certified and just took a short seminar on installing a carseat, something anyone who reads the manual can do. Someone who is certified will be able to give you far more information.

Contact your nearest "Babies R Us" or visit their website. They often have car seat clinics, and at the very least could probably refer you to someone who can help.

A.,

Assuming your having a hospital birth, the staff there will take a look at the seat, and will make sure your baby is buckled into the seat properly. They might also be able to help you make sure the seat is buckled into the car properly--call ahead and ask.

HI A.,
Alot of hospitals will offer car seat checks before you leave the hospital... I would check and see if your hospital does anything like that!
Congrats on the baby :)

Our local police station (Coon Rapids) does them upon request, for free, by appt. I'd start with your local station. Our fire stations also host regular clinics, but if there are none in your area, they might be able to schedule a one-on-one for you. I have done this also, and have never paid anything (other than baked goods on holidays!)

HCMC offers car seat safety testing the first Thursday of every month by appointment only. Here is the website:
http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/fire/mfdcarseatclinic.asp
It is at Fire Station 21 3209 E 38th Street, Minneapolis
I know North Memorial does car seat safety every now and then too right off 694 and Brooklyn Blvd at the ambulatory services center, but I think it is an annual thing not monthly? You can call North Memorial and ask about it, but I could not find info on their website.
