Assuming it's "silver" try a polishing cloth. You can get them in a supermarket or Bed, Bath and Beyond. A little shin up should do the trick.

If it's that special to you, bring it to a jeweler and get advice on having it dipped in silver or white gold.

Use a toothbrush to brush dampened baking soda on it. Cup it in one hand, get it good and wet and sprinkle a fair amount of the soda into your hand and give it a gentle scrub. Works well on silver, too! :)

Toothpaste takes tarnish off, too. At least from silver. I use the plain old regular Crest - no whitening, no scope, no tartar control, etc. I'm not sure if other brands also work. I read about it somewhere and it was so weird I had to try it!

Try polishing it with gel toothpaste. That should do the trick.

I'd try a little tooth paste and if it works then coat it with clear nail polish. That should keep it tarnish free.

I'm guessing that since it was from the holiday shop at school it isn't real silver or gold. I have always wondered about touching up some of my cosume jewelry with gold or silver nail polish. Any thoughts?
