Cleaning Fake Wood Blinds

Does anyone know how to clean fake wooden window blinds. I have a bday party this weekend and I need to know how to make them look like new again. They are white and you can see dirt on them that I am not able to get off with just a wash rag. I have heard that you can clean them with vinegar but can you use apple vinegar instead of white vinegar? Also is their a way to clean them besides taking them down? Thanks.

What can I do next?

I vacuum mine with one of the attachments. I've also wiped them with a dryer sheet. If you use something wet, you REALLY have to do a good job or they will look worse.

The best way to clean mine is throwing them in the tub (I have a 3 year old and an 80lb dog!). I think last time I did it I used Mrs. Meyers All Purpose cleaner, warm water and a scrub brush - and they came out looking brand new! It's a pain taking them down - but was so much faster cleaning a whole set at a time - it was definitely worth it! Good luck!

Since they are white, you might try diluting bleach water on your wash rag. Follow with clear water to remove any bleach. Or buy a spray cleaning solution with bleach in it. My mom usually filled the bathtub with vingar and dunked the blinds or even soaked. But since yours are white, bleach will be more effective. I'm afraid apple cider vingar will cause yellowing.

Try Pledge multi surface. It's wonderful. Not waxy - just a good cleaner.

I would try Mr. Clean magic eraser. It might be a little time consuming to clean each slat but I'm sure it would work well.

depending on how grimy they are, you could use the pledge multi surface and then follow that withe the blind dusters (they look like fingers with cleaning cloth all around them).
If really grimy, take them to the tub and wash with Murphy's Oil soap (I LOVE THIS STUFF for all wood and wood like surfaces). I would be extra careful though, if not real wood, they might pucker and warp. do a spot test first.
If they do make a little pucker, but are grimy, I would take them down, mist them wiht a wood oil soap/water mixture and use a microfiber cloth and some elbow grease:)
Good luck. Blinds are such a booger to clean!

I use clorox wipes. I dont know how good that is for the blinds though. Seems to work for me :)

Believe it or not, my daughter discovered that baby wipes work wonders! The generic store brands work just as well as the more expensive ones.

I use multi purpose cleaning wipes for everything. It's a lot easier for me.

Just spray the slats with a multi-purpose cleaner and wipe with a clean terry rag. Clorox Greenwork or Method Multi-purpose cleaner will work well.
