Comcast. Vs. AT&T (TV and Cable)

We are moving in a few weeks and are trying to decide between just staying with Comcast and their crappy customer service or trying AT&T Uverse. I have tried talking with Comcast's retention department regarding promotions to continue as a Comcast customer, but they don't seem to want to keep their long-time current customers, they would rather focus on getting new customers. Does anyone have any opinions, good or bad, or is AT&T more of the same? We currently have TV (HD and 2 DVRs) and internet with Comcast and the basic phone service with AT&T (we use or cell phones for long distance). Any comments would be helpful. Thanks!

Comcast has a history of bad customer service. We've had just about every service out there and while Dishnetwork and Directv were good, we love AT&T Uverse. Internet is fast and flawless and the tv service is great! If you work with a customer service rep over the phone they will give you LOTS of sign on bonuses. Definitely worth it.

my mother has u verse and has no complaints. we have comcast and i had a couple complaints but they handled them pretty well9except for when they installed my service they didn't bring working equipment, didn't get my wireless internet started and left my house to look for another installer in the area with working epuipment and left my house WIDE OPEN and didn't tell me they left!! reported it they said they would credit me and when i got my bill there was $1.36 credit!!!! called back they basically had to cuss them out and ended uo getting two months free). but i have had no problems after that. now with u-verse you can record up to 4 programs at once but with comcast you can only do 2 BUT when it comes to ON-DEMAND comcast i feel has the best variety. i can always find something on there to watch. good luck

We have Comcast bundle with digital phone (we do not use), internet (used heavily) and HDTV's, 2 boxes, 1 DVR. We also purchase movies on demand sometimes.

Our bill runs anywhere from $160-$180 a month.

In the beginning, we had a few issues with internet service but but we no longer have any issues. I've found that they do not like to come out and make service calls....it costs them $$$ because time = $$.. SO, anytime I had an issue, no matter how small, I had them come out anyway. Finally, I suppose i hit their pocketbook enough to get the issue fixed and done. No issues after that...... this was about 4 yrs ago.

Overall service is not bad.

we've had uverse for 2 months now and we love it! We have tv, internet and phone (including long distance) we have a dvr, 2 other boxes and we pay $150 a month. we haven't had any problems and customer service seems to be just fine.

We picked uverse over comcast cause it was cheaper and we heard nothing but AWFUL things about them.

Good luck!

We've had both for everything (phone, cable and Internet). We currently have AT&T and have far less outages then we did with Comcast. I really like AT&T but will say that comcast sees to have a better on demand options. I LOVE being able to watch stuff from the DRV on both TV's (huge plus to AT&T). When we first moved we had some pretty major issues and they were out here all day (the guy was actually at my house for 10 hours) and they didn't leave until it was fixed and working perfectly. Comcast NEVER would have done that!
Knock on wood.. we have had AT&T for almost a year and I like it much more than Comcast.

We changed from Direct TV to ATT U Verse. We love it. You only need 1 DVR, and you can record/watch up to 4 shows at a time from any TV in the house. The only trouble we had was our DVR had a glich and everything was erased. But, they helped rectify the situation immediately and gave me 6 months free movie channels.

We have had uverse for almost 2 years and we love it. Great variety....the DVR that can play back in any room, you can record 4 shows at a time...it's great...and they offer real nice deals where you can combine your internet, phone, cable, cell or combination of those. I personally cannot stand Comcast. They offer very little (even though they make it out to be soooo great) and charge you an arm and a leg for it. I feel like their commercials are borderline false advertising...it's all in the fine print. I think all cable is overpriced but AT&T is the best yet we've had. They have great little features too like being able to set up recordings online. AT&T overall is not my favorite as far as customer service goes, but I have rarely had to deal with them.

Wow, glad someone agrees with me about Comcast. on top of that they were very misleading, told us that we were getting phone for 19.99 a month, then forgot to mention the extra $30.00 for digital voice, couple with internet and cable, and HBO which all got put on a contract ( I didn't ever have contracts with Comcast before and so can't cancel for another month) and it is all over $160.00 a month! That is ridiculous, but there would be a fee if we cancelled. We were with them about fourteen years, took a year to be on AT and T and they tricked us, too. They forget to mention a few things. Since it was so expensive there that is how we got Comcast. I cannot believe these companies! You are right Comcast doesn't seem to want to keep their customers who pay them consistently. You would think they would work out some wonderful things for them first.
Their promotions are definitely only for new customers. So what should we do? I am thinking of looking at all other groups, Verizon, Vonage, Direct Tv, etc. and see what is cheaper. Sometimes bundles really are only bundles not cheap. Good luck to a lot of us!

In my opinion I would go with At&t! We're with them and the cable company they are working with is Direct T.V and we have'nt had any problems..They always come out with new promotions and they want customer's! So even if you see a cheaper and better deal elsewhere they will even beat that! Plus they give you 6 movie channels for FREE! And I also no that there's no installation fee..We pay 120.00 for internet-DSL, phone-local and long distance, and our cable, I think this is a good deal and if you ever have any complaints they will work hard to keep you satisfied! Which I love...Hope I helped you out in making your descion! Good Luck!
