Hey creative moms - I need help! My sister will be turning 50 later this month & I'm wondering if anyone has any good ideas on how to acknowledge that milestone. I really don't want to do any "gag" gifts as she is having trouble with this age. I want it to be a celebration of her. I also want to stay away from the usual gift certificates (practical but boring). I'm working on a poem but want something to go along with it. Any ideas? THANKS!!!

It might be a big undertaking right now, but how about a memory book? We did one for my big brother when he turned 50. He loved it, he actually teared up and put it away to look at later. I had a lot of people contribute to it, but certainly not necessary. Some wrote letters, others just gave me pictures. I put everything into a scrapbook and no I am not much of a scrapbooker. It turned out really nice. So much better than anything you can buy at a store.

One of the nicest things I received when turning 50 was a list by my youngest son, who was almost 13. He made a list of the 50 reasons he loved me. It was really nice. you could do something like the 50 reasons she is special and you could get her a nice floral arrangement. The one thing I wanted my family to get me, and they didn't was one of those edible arrangements. the fruit etc. always looks so good in the photos that I wonder what they are like!

I think a "date" together would be super. Your poem idea is excellent, you could top that with creating a new memory together. Maybe you two could do something you don't ordinarily get to do ... take in a play or go to a museum, go to the opera, something your husbands or kids would be like yuck but your sis would be like oh, cool! Only you could know what that is, but it'd just be so cool to have a whole day just the two of you together. I know with my sis we're always so busy we don't get to chill together even though she's my best friend. That'd be the cat's meow! Congrats to your sis, that's excellent!
